Fox News Turns “Pro-Lifers” Into Victims in the Murder of Dr. George Tiller

This would be the headline — “Pro-Lifers Fear Backlash” — on FoxNews.com right now (9:36 p.m. ET):

Fox 5-31 9 thirty

Less than 12 hours on, it’s disturbing and frankly frightening that the right fair and balanced Fox is exploiting Dr. Tiller’s murder this way but honestly? My gut says they’re loving it.

Not a Word From President Newt Gingrich on Dr. George Tiller’s Murder

Six, seven hours on (as of 9:02 p.m ET).

No condolences.  Nothing.  (But he apparently has plenty of time to Tweet about himself, as you can see.)

Bill O’Reilly On Confronting George “Tiller the Baby Killer”

The Factor has been investigating a late-term abortion clinic run by Dr. George Tiller in Wichita, Kansas. Dr. Tiller, known to his detractors as “Tiller the Baby Killer,” stonewalled us when we asked over the last year if he’d performed illegal abortions and covered up child rape at his clinic. But recently the Factor learned that Tiller terminated late-term pregnancies by citing temporary “depression” on the part of the mother, and performed these abortions on girls as young as ten, never informing police these girls were victims of rape or incest.

And that’s just the beginning.  There’s more.

It’s tragically not surprising that after years of right wing hysteria like this (the above is from 2006), someone would murder the man.

Red State Commenter: Killing George Tiller Was the “Ethical Thing to Do”

Red State is one of the most popular conservative websites.  The comment was made on this thread:  BREAKING:  Kansas Abortionist Shot, Killed at Church.

Here’s a screen shot:

Our legal system “steal[s] the oxygen from moral vigilantism”?  This is what we’re up against folks.

Wingers Think They Have a Right to Be the Judge, Jury and Executioner

George Tiller, a Kansas City doctor who performed abortions, was murdered today at his church.  The domestic terrorist who killed Tiller probably thought of himself as “doing God’s work” and, “protecting the sanctity of life.”  I wonder if the police will find Sean Hannity, Bill O’Reilly and Michael Savage on his reading list.

Time For a Revolution

Pretend you want to build a new house.  Problem is, “the costs are estimated to exceed” your ability “to finance the project” and it “cannot be constructed or operated without economic assistance.”  What to do?  Scale the project down?  Shelve it altogether?  No!  Go to your city council and tell them “there is no way in this environment to get that kind of project done without some kind of help.”  Ask for a tax break.  Tell them building your house will create jobs because you’ll be hiring carpenters and drywall guys, etc.   Voila!  They give you the break  and your neighbors pat you on the back because everyone knows that “a subsidy is the normal course of doing business.”

Gah!  We need a systemic change in the way we do things around here.

When You Think of the Fox Business Network, Do You Think “Opportunity. Pure and Simple”?

I don’t either, but they want us to.  Here’s their new logo which, imho, is pretty freakin’ uninspiring:

Here’s the old version:

Sleepin’ Like a Baby

I’m signing off after watching this delightful video of President Barack Hussein Obama going to a burger joint today and ordering cheeseburgers.  Despite the fact that I disagree with much of what Obama has done and is doing, I’m sleepin’ like a baby these days, which I didn’t do while the crazies who are trashing Sonia Sotomayor were in charge.

Why, Oh Why?

Why, oh why, is it apparently impossible for the corporate media to go to a computer, go to Google or Lexis-Nexis, do 90 seconds of research, and put together a report like the one below, using facts to provide “balance,” instead of lapping up every single thing they’re fed by the likes of President Cheney, President Gingrich, President Rove and President Limbaugh?

Good Thing?

Sky News (owned by Rupert Murdoch) in the U.K. has a free app people can download that allows them to be “citizen journalists” and send news tips and pics to Sky.

Nice that people can contribute but what a cheap, cheap! way for Sky to gather material for broadcast.  No need for reporters in the field anymore?  (This is going on here too and I have the same feeling about it.)

The Fox Nation Logo – Red Flag Warning?

I’m trying to figure out why Fox keeps changing the look of the “Fox Nation” logo/button that is ubiquitously displayed in the upper right-hand corner of its home page.

Here it is on May 15:

FNation Link on Fox News Home Page 5-15

Here it is on May 17:

Fox Nation Link on Fnews home bage 5-17

And here it is today:

Fox Nation on Home Page 5-28

Maybe they’re just trying to keep things visually interesting or maybe the fiery logo at the top signals some sort of RED ALERT as to the state of the nation, whereas today things are relatively calm?

I’ll keep you posted.

Obama Didn’t Talk to Sonia Sotomayor About Roe v. Wade?

According to David Corn, who is at the White House press briefing right now, the CBS representative/reporter asked WH press secretary Robert Gibbs whether Obama knows if Sonia Sotomayor supports Roe v. Wade.  Per Gibbs, they didn’t discuss it.

If Gibbs is to be believed, I find that absolutely shocking.  I can’t imagine any president — be they Democratic or Republican — not asking a potential Supreme Court nominee about that case.  I don’t think Obama would be forgiven if one of his nominees voted to overturn Roe v. Wade much less if he or she cast the deciding vote.  What is he thinking?

On the other hand, if Gibbs is lying, why?  He doesn’t want to get into a “litmus test” debate?  Why is it so hard for Democrats to proclaim that there are certain laws and rights that they will do everything to uphold, and they want to make damn sure their nominee agrees?   Call it a “litmus test” if you want, but so be it.  Republicans certainly aren’t shy about that.

Either way, this isn’t good.

A Karl Rove Take-Down

Karl Rove has an op-ed in the Wall Street Murdoch Street Journal today:  “Empathy” is Code for Judicial Activism. Here’s a beautiful eviseration of it.

Money quote?

It’s also a little more than ironic that were it not for judicial activism on the Supreme Court in 2000, Karl Rove wouldn’t have spent seven years working out of the White House instead of the state capital in Austin, trying to keep Gov. George W. Bush occupied while he ran the state of Texas for him.

More Photos of the Barbarism That Took Place in Iraq

More of the photos that President Obama doesn’t want the world to see.  (Warning:  They’re graphic.)

One gets the impression that nobody was in charge over there.  Or, that the people who were, were monsters.

Why Do Dogs Eat Mud?

One of my two dogs eats mud, or is it grass?  I don’t know for sure.  All I know is that she plants the tip of her mug on the ground, roots around, and lo and behold, seconds later, the grass is gone and there’s a little divot in that spot.

What the?

She has done this dozens of times. My yard looks like it’s been hit by a spray of tiny bombs because of the crater-like things she leaves behind

Does anyone have info, suggestions or expertise as to what might be going on here?

Ugh.

Thanks in advance.
