“Tea Parties” – July 4th
Will someone please — please — tell me what the theme is? What’s being protested?
Sarah Palin Tweets – Lots of Happy Construction Workers
Sarah Palin tweets:

Remind me to look into how “happy” construction workers are.
Then, when all is said and done, we’ll take a look at what it’s like to work in a prison.
A laugh a minute.
Fox News, John Ensign and Sex, Sex, Sex
Bearing the holier-than-thou John Ensign in mind, let’s hit the refresh button on all that righteousness: Fox News Porn.
There’s more! Here’s another one of the pure ones (as in Bill O’Reilly), using sex as a lure.
You Won’t See This on the “Liberal Media:” Americans Support Taxing the Rich
The corporate propagandists talking heads we see every day on teevee don’t want you to know that, per a new WSJ/NBC poll, we Americans have no problem with the notion of taxing the rich:
62% of respondents said it would be acceptable to raise taxes on people making over $250,000 in order to fund health reform.
I’ve heard and read a lot about this WSJ poll today — “the honeymoon is over” — on the “liberal media,” but nothing — nothing — about this part of it. The ruling class doesn’t want this to gain momentum; to come to pass.
More High Hypocrisy From Fox News
The lying liars are caught again! (Bear in mind, the one thing Fox counts on in its viewers is roughly a 24-hour memory span.)
Taliban U.S.A.
A group in Wisconsin is suing to be allowed to hold a book burning.
Compare and contrast: The Pakistani Taliban: Where they burn books, they will end in burning human beings.
GOP Fear-Monger of the Day
And the winner is, Eric Cantor, the new, fresh face of the GOP!
The “Liberal” Washington Post Fires Its Liberal Blogger
The Washington Post, which I once revered — during the days of Katharine Graham and Watergate and real journalism — has been sliding into the right-wing-o-sphere during the last well, certainly the last decade. More evidence of that here: The Post has fired its liberal blogger, Dan Froomkin. Froomkin’s motto was, “watch the White House like a hawk,” as it should be for all journalists who cover politics.
Sorry to see him go. (And newspapers wonder why their readership is declining?)
UPDATE:
– More here from the amazing Glenn Greenwald on why the Post fired “its best columnist.“
– And this from Andrew Sullivan (a Republican):
A simply astonishing move by the paper – getting rid of the one blogger, Dan Froomkin, who kept it real and kept it interesting. Dan’s work on torture may be one reason he is now gone. The way in which the WaPo has been coopted by the neocon right, especially in its editorial pages, is getting more and more disturbing.
Political Cartoon re Health Care
This pretty much sums up what I think about the folks who are soooo opposed to “socialized medicine.”
Don’t Be Surprised if Your State Starts Cutting Services
The states are in big trouble.
(Thanks again to the free-marketeers and deregulators for getting us into this mess. Their dream of shrinking government such that it can be drown in a bathtub is coming true.)
Gold to be Sold From Vending Machines in Germany
I predict a rash of smashed and/or stolen vending machines will follow.
