Fox News Frets About “State Run Media” (Pot/Kettle)

This is funny.  Now that Fox’s symbiotic relationship with the Bush administration has ended (though, of course, they’re still joined to the hip to the GOP) — when they truly were the state run media network — Fox is cryin’ like a baby because Obama called on the Huffington Post’s Nico Pitney today during his presser.

State Run Media 6-23

Here’s what Pitney has to say about the situation (scroll down to 3:58 p.m.):

A few words about how this came about for those who are curious: as readers know, I’ve spent a lot of time writing and debating about the President’s reaction to the events in Iran. Last night, after emailing with a few people about Obama’s press conference and what he might say, I decided to throw it open to our readers. I received a call from White House staff saying they had seen what I’d written and thought the President might be interested in receiving a question directly from an Iranian.

The White House didn’t guarantee that I would be able to ask a question. But I decided that if there was even a chance, I should try to reach out to as many Iranians as possible. With the invaluable help from some readers — Chas, Chuck, and other Iranian Americans I wish I could name because they deserve the credit — I was able to post a message in Farsi on Twitter and have my request for questions posted late last night on Balatarin. I ended up choosing the question I did because it was one of the consensus questions that many people had suggested.

Thanks also to the White House staff. They were up front about not being able to assure that a question would be asked, they never asked what the question would be, and they helped me move through the very packed briefing room when I showed up a bit late (sorry to the many toes I stepped on getting through).

There’s no there there.  Obama was taking a question from an Iranian (which I think is so cool — it’s known as “soft diplomacy”), not cozying up to a lefty blog.  Period. Get over it you hate-mongers.

Kate Gosselin’s Pregnant?!

Oh my God.  I was just listening to the CBS News on the radio and the announcer said that Kate Gosselin is pregnant!  Good idea Kate.  Have another kid and bring it into your chaotic world.

What’s she trying to do?  Keep the show going indefinitely?

Did Mark Sanford Disappear So He Could Join “Naked Hiking Day?

Hey, stranger things have happened and with this crowd of Republicans, I wouldn’t be at all surprised.

Mark Sanford – These are “Family Values”?

Mark Sanford, the Republican governor of South Carolina took off last Thursday and hasn’t been seen since.  Yesterday his wife said she didn’t know where he was.  His office said he was hiking.  Today they said he would be back at work tomorrow.  But his wife still hasn’t heard from him.

Baring some sort of amnesia, if my husband took off six days ago without telling me and without calling at some point — early on — to tell me what was up, I’d be furious, especially if I was at home with four young sons!  It’s rude.  It’s selfish. It’s arrogant.  It’s irresponsible.  It’s immature.  Just what we want in a president (Sanford is, or was, thought of as a potential 2012 GOP presidential candidate), hey?

Mark Sanford: Fox News Promotes Implausible Excuse for His Disappearance

The “journalists” at Fox “News” quote a representative of Republican South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford and call it a day:

Fox Sanford 6-22

So, Sanford vanishes — immediately prior to Father’s Day weekend (he has three kids) — without letting his wife know?  He’s a governor but he doesn’t have a cellphone or a Blackberry or any other means of communication?  Who’s in charge while Sanford’s on his “hike”?  Is there a lieutenant governor in SC?  Was he/she formally put in charge?  Yes?  No?  If not, why not?

So many questions.

Imagine the screams we’d be hearing from Fox if Sanford was a Democrat.

Where is Mark Sanford? Nothing New on his Twitter Page

The world is searching for him.

“Some say” he’s hiking the Appalachian Trail or “writing something” (see posts below).  But the governor  — the dang GOVERNOR — doesn’t have a phone?  No ability to send a tweet or call someone?’  Not as of early Tuesday/6–23-09, believe it or not (I say not).
