20,000 In Line for Ted

A Kennedy News tweet at 10:55 p.m. ET:

20,000

Turn to C-SPAN.  It’s 11:00 p.m. on a work night.  People like you and me are paying their respects to a guy who cared about them.

You won’t see this on Fox (but you would if we were talkin’ about the death of a rightie, though the people filing past would have been bused in).

UPDATED @ 11:20 p.m. ET:  C-SPAN  dropped coverage.

Parents: Wear a Helmet

One of my pet peeves is watching parents bike with their  kids.  The kids are wearing helmets but the parents aren’t.

Hello!  Parents are role models.  Your kids are watching you.  What must the kids be thinking?  When I grow up I don’t have to wear a helmet?

Talk to your local ER doc for more info.

Shocker! Real Americans Appear on TV

C-SPAN is airing live coverage of people filing by Ted Kennedy’s casket.  They’re average people — people in sweats and ugly cheap clothes (my opinion).  Fat people, skinny people and disabled people pushing walkers and in wheelchairs.  Poor-looking people and rich-looking people.  Americans.

The kind of people you never see on TV.

Larry King Pulls Dan Quayle Out of the Dust Bin to Talk About Ted Kennedy

Someone should help ol’ Larry update his Rolodex mimeograph machine.

Hey, Let’s Talk About Rush Limbaugh’s Penis

The smaller the penis the bigger the gun or the car or the mic or whatever.

You get my drift.

GOPers Think There’s No News But Fox News

The GOPers are SO showing their racist colors these days (see below).  The latest?  An Idaho gubernatorial candidate who said “he’d buy a license to hunt President Barack Obama.”

I swear.  They think everyone listens to Fox “News” and Rush Limbaugh and that everyone will cheer and applaud this kind of talk.  They’re living in a bubble that I hope will be their undoing.

Thousands in Line to Pay Tribute to Ted Kennedy

I’m watching C-SPAN’s silent coverage (thank you C-SPAN!) of people passing by Ted Kennedy’s coffin at the John F. Kennedy Library in Boston.  They just put up a graphic saying that as of 7:44 p.m. ET, 12,000 people are in line.

You can be sure you won’t hear that stat on Fox.  They want you to think that the people who identify with Kennedy’s politics are a tiny, irritating, pesky little group of militants who’ve somehow managed to move into the White House and who are thwarting the will of the vast, vast majority of Americans.

Blogging While Ambivalent

Watched at lot of the live coverage of the goings on with the Kennedys today.  Feel very sad but also notice that after a heavy day of blogging like I had yesterday, I feel burned out and unable to do it again the next day.

Still detoxing from News Hounds I guess though it’s taking longer than I thought it would.

I hope he is with Jack and Bobby and his other siblings and friends up there, if there is an up there.

Karl Rove Claims Success

Karl Rove sent out this Tweet today:

Rove 8-27

That’s because Rove and Fox and all the rest of the wingers have been lying to them for weeks about it entails.

Bought and Sold Blue Dogs

Good article here about how much money insurance and related industries have donated to the Blue Dog Democrats who are holding up health care reform.

As the Obama administration and Democrats wrangled over the timing, shape and cost of health care overhaul efforts during the first half of the year, more than half the $1.1 million in campaign contributions the Democratic Party‘s Blue Dog Coalition received came from the pharmaceutical, health care and health insurance industries, according to watchdog organizations.

Finally, a Republican Tells the Truth

They’re looking for a “great white hope” to lead them back into power.

Racist much?
