Democrats — Call on Republicans to Condem Newsmax
Remember MoveOn’s Betray Us ad? Remember how Republicans created a media riot (with the help of the “liberal media”) and as a result, Democrats caved and voted to condemn MoveOn (their base) by a 72-25 vote?
Why aren’t Democrats staging a media rioting now over the Newsmax article calling for a military coup to “resolve the Obama problem?”
They aren’t because they’ve been intimidated and browbeaten by the vast right wing conspiracy media and they don’t get that if they stand up and fight back, slowly, but surely, it will make a difference.
Come on! Do it!
Contribute to Alan Grayson
Alan Grayson (D-FL) spoke the truth: Yeah, the Republicans have a “health care plan:” Don’t get sick, and if you do, die quickly. And he isn’t backing down.
If you have a dollar or two, think about supporting Alan Grayson. We need people who have the guts to tell the truth and who stand up to the onslaught brought on by the haters and the “liberal media” which is working to destroy him for doing so.
Glenn Beck States as Fact Something That Hasn’t Happened
The righties are so frothing at the mouth to attack Obama that they’re looking into the future and making stuff up that hasn’t happened in order to have enough material. Case in point.
Sarah Palin’s Book Title
“Going Rogue?” How about: “The Book From Nowhere.”
Sean Hannity Cozies Up to France!
What a difference a few years and a change in an administration makes. Remember Freedom Fries? Remember how anything associated with France was wimpy and anyone who said anything nice about France or the French was a traitor?
Well my, my, looky here: Sean Hannity thinks President Obama should eat some Brie, visit France, learn the French language, take the advice of the French president!

Here’s Hannity’s video screed if you care to watch it.
Hypocrisy on parade.
Hey Boehner: Nobody’s Listening to Your Fake Outrage
Predictably, Republican House Minority Leader John Boehner weighed in on President Obama’s trip to Copenhagen tomorrow to advocate before the International Olympic committee on behalf of Chicago as the site for the 2016 Olympics. And predictably, he feigns outrage:
Listen I think it’s a great idea to promote Chicago but he’s the president of the United States, not the mayor of Chicago,” Boehner said. “And the problems we have here at home affect all Americans and that’s where his attention ought to be.
I read somewhere yesterday day that the trip is going to take all of 18 hours. Big whoop. Oh, and by the way Johnnie boy, where’s the Republican health care proposal? Shouldn’t you be workin’ on that rather than whining about petty stuff like this? I don’t think any reasonable person thinks that this trip is taking Obama away from anything. After all, the guy can chew gum and walk at the same time.
Democrats: Fight GOP on Grayson Censure Resolution
The ultra-sensitive GOP has had its widdle fewings hurt again. The poor, abused things need some attention (sound of baby crying): They’ve introduced a resolution in the House to censure Alan Grayson (D-FL) for saying that the Republican health care plan is to have people either not get sick, or if they do get sick, to die quickly.
Sounds about right to me.
Anyway, the House will take the matter up at about 2:00 p.m. ET today. Should be interesting to see if Grayson gets support from his fellow House Democrats and to see how Harry Reid handles it all because this is a bunch of BS. More witch hunting on the part of a party (the GOP) that has said and done things that are far more outrageous than what Grayson did (see link above).
So, Democrats, don’t back down on this!
Break Time
Somewhere along the line I heard a quote that went something like this: If you’re cooking something and you’re not sure how good it will be, just add bacon and everyone will love it. So, speaking of bacon, how about bacon Jelly Beans? Bacon-flavored toothpicks or mints?
Here’s your one stop bacon store. Have at it!
Fat Cats
I think the headline of this Bloomberg article just about says it all: Pro-Business “New Democrats” Try to Shape Financial Regulations. Translation: There will be no meaningful new financial regulation er, “reform.”
Up Against the Wall
Look at this sculpture on display in Beijing. Wooha. Not much left to the imagination, but the way I see it, the male form meant to be Bernie Madoff instead represents the people of the world who are suffering as a result of the shenanigans that were going on on Wall Street last year.
Newsmax Removes Article re Military Coup
Yesterday I posted about an article that was up at Newsmax stating that a military coup might be the answer to the “Obama problem.”
Apparently they took it down sometime overnight. Problem is, you can’t put the toothpaste back in the tube, and they know that so, mission accomplished.
How Toxic Are the Deodorants and Lotions You Use?
I just went to this cosmetic database site — “Skin Deep – Cosmetic Safety Reviews“ — and checked out the deodorant and lotions I use on a daily basis. I got thoroughly bummed out. They all contain ingredients that cause cancer and birth defects and changes in cell development. (Did you know that there are no regulatory standards for what goes into cosmetics?)
Yikes.
California Governor’s Race
I always thought it was kind of weird to see the former CEO of eBay, Meg Whitman, in the political arena, especially when she announced her intention to run for Governor of California. I thought she looked like a fish out of water. My feelings weren’t based on anything concrete; just a gut feeling. Turns out that gut feeling was spot on. According to some new information that has come out about her, she has never been all that politically involved. As a matter of fact, it looks like she didn’t even start voting until she was roughly 40-years-old. Ouch. Not good.
UPDATE: Whitman is now saying that she was too focused on her family to vote. Yeah, right. IMHO, if you have a family, all the more reason to vote, especially if you have kids. Their future could depend on it.
After Eight Years, Fox “News” Says We Should Worry About Transparency at Gitmo
Ever hear or read anything like this from Fox “News” during the seven years the Bushies disappeared people into Gitmo?: Obama Administration Limits Access to Guantanamo, Raising Transparency Questions?
I Hate Being Called a “Consumer”
Ron Wyden (D-OR) is on Countdown right now talking about what kind of insurance options he wants for “consumers.” God I hate that being called that. We’re CITIZENS dammit.
It’s a Big Day for Earthquakes
Check out this continuously-updated list from the U.S. Geological Survey.
(Samoa experienced another quake a few minutes ago — a 6.2′er.)
Now The Wingers are Talking About a “Military Coup”
I kid you not: They’re floating the idea of a military coup to resolve the “Obama problem.”
That’s not how we do things here folks. We have something called the Constitution.
(h/t David Sirota.)
The “Liberal Media” Instantly Adopts GOP Term for Public Option
Orrin Hatch (R-UT) was on Hardball w/Chris Matthews one hour ago talking about today’s vote on the public option. During the Q & A, Hatch said he likes to call it “the government option.” One minute ago I was listening to the radio (4:00 p.m. MT) during a CBS News news break. The announcer referred to the vote on the public option as a vote on the “government option.”
Wow. That didn’t take long. “Government option” sounds a lot more ominous doesn’t it, than “public option?” Well, that’s the whole point folks. So, thanks again to the “liberal media” for falling in line and pushing GOP rhetoric. Ten-hut.
Public Option – Democrats Do Republicans Proud
Two-thirds of the American public supports a public option but just minutes ago, roughly two-thirds of the Senate Finance Committee voted down Jay Rockefeller’s public option provision.
Way to go guys!
UPDATE: Schumer’s public option amendment was just voted down, 10-13.
The Republicans must be so proud – you just made 2010 and 2012 so much easier for them.
A Huge Earthquake Just Occurred in Vicinity of Samoa Islands
Magnitude 7.9. Huge. Wonder if tsunami warnings will be issued for Australia.
UPDATE: Hawaii is under a tsunami watch. Sheesh. I thought Hawaii was too far away to be affected.
UPDATE: Hawaii tsunami watch cancelled.
Sarah Palin Wrote a Book? In Four Months?
I don’t believe that Sarah Palin is capable of writing a book that would be accepted by a publisher period, but to do so in four months?
So, I wonder who wrote it for her.
Back to the Future
Crazy, isn’t it, that we have laws banning clotheslines? Good though that those stupid laws are now being reversed.
Fox’s, Ahem, Interesting Reporting on That Facebook Poll Asking Whether Obama Should be Killed
I was over at FoxNews.com just now and noticed this cluster of headlines:
The first thing that came to my mind when I heard about the Facebook poll asking whether Obama should be killed was not that it was put up by some guy(s) who just came back from Afghanistan or Pakistan or Colombia. My first thought was that whoever did it was probably a Glenn Beck-Sean Hannity-Fox News-Sarah Palin-Michele Bachmann fan who was drinking their not so subtle we-have-to-get-rid-of Obama Kool-Aid.
But looky here. Fox is intentionally steering our attention away from that crowd and toward international terrorists. Cute.
CBS Cancels Michael Moore Appearance
More on the “liberal media:” From Michael Moore’s Twitter page:
