Michael Moore Does Venice and Capitalism

UPDATED.

Michael Moore blogs about the debut of his new film, Capitalism:  A Love Story.

He signs off with this:

I’ll leave you with a quote from Thomas Jefferson [hey, people, we're talkin' Thomas Jefferson!]: ‘Banking establishments are more dangerous than standing armies.’

You won’t see this film previewed  positively anywhere in the media because the media is owned by the banking establishment.  Or is it vice versa? Whatever.  They’re one in the same.

Bottom line?  They don’t want you to know about this so they aren’t going to promote it.  All the more reason to make sure you see it.  If corporate America hates it, you’ll love it.

Here’s the trailer:

P.S.  After Sicko, the wingers attacked Moore for being fat.  They will undoubtedly attack him now because he has made money on his films, which, they’ll say, makes him a first class hypocrite.  They’ll use whatever works to make you not want to see the movie and to disregard anything good you hear about it.

UPDATE:  Heh.  What did I tell you?  The planet’s biggest hypocrite Michael Moore is ready to release his latest socialist flick, “Capitalism Is Evil.” Then the author goes on to talk about how much Michael Moore’s property in northern Michigan is worth.

Why Won’t Democrats Stand Up to Glenn Beck?

That’s the first thing I thought when I saw this headline tonight on The Huffington Post:  “Who’s Glenn Beck’s Next Target?”

HuffPost 9-6

My response?  Who the hell cares?  What, we’re cowering in the corner waiting for Beck to strike again?

Yo!  Democrats!  Stand up and handle whoever it is!  Grow some damn balls!  After all, wingers are going absolutely crazy — Obama as Hitler, etc. –  but what do Dems do when someone attacks them?  Fire their own people — succumbing to political terrorists — (think Van Jones) rather than telling the righties to go fuck themselves in return.

Goddamnit.   I am am so sick. Of Democrats cow towing to the wingnuts!

Oh, and speaking of Van Jones, be sure to read this, about how the Obama administration threw a good guy under the bus because they refused (or were too afraid) to stand up to these guys.

Confused About the Health Care Plan?

Who isn’t?  And it’s no wonder.  Apparently the White House is too:   As recently as this morning David Axelrod said one thing and Robert Gibbs said another.

In Support of Van Jones

To all the progressive Obama supporters out there:  If you only read one longish article this week, read this one by Jane Hamsher over at Firedoglake. Seriously.  It’s a must-read.

Money quote:

So where are the liberal groups in all of this?  Van Jones was a Senior Fellow at the Center for American Progress.  Where are they?  As Jeremy Scahill notes, I guess they have better things to do, like argue for more war:

[...]

CAP’s John Podesta is also a partner in the Podesta Group, his brother’s lobbying shop that is representing Walmart against the Employee Free Choice Act.   This morning on Fox & Friends, Podesta wouldn’t way a word in Jones’ defense  for doing something no worse than what elected Republican members of Congress do on a daily basis.  The message is loud and clear:   incur the wrath of the right wing, and you’re on your own.

Wow, is that a way to encourage your team or what.

If these groups, if these liberal leaders, let Jones just hang there while Glenn Beck pounds his chest and celebrates the scalp, we have no liberal institutions.  What we have are a bunch of neoliberal enablers who have found a nice comfortable place in the DC establishment that they don’t want to jeopardize, and place on the new K-Street gravy train that they don’t want to lose.  Dropping Van Jones from their rolodex is a small price to pay.
