One Billion for Contractors in Iraq? Change We Can’t Believe In
The U.S. spends how many bazillions on its defense budget — meaning bases and troops and equipment and food for the troops and clothes and guns and all that, but yet, that’s not enough? Our troops can’t do what needs to be done? We’ve got to add to that spending — spending that exceeds what the rest of the world combined spends on defense — and add a new arm of expenses that includes $1 billion for “contractors?“
Where and when is this layering on of big bucks on big bucks going to end? And how do you think the troops feel working side by side with some guy who’s “contractor” boss is paying him 200% more than the soldier’s getting. That isn’t right. Why can’ we do what needs to be done on our military budget alone. Why add this “contractor” budget to our already-bloated military spending?
Oh, and by the way, I thought Obama was going to put an end this kind of thing.
George W. Bush Charged the War on Iraq on Our Chinese Credit Card – Now we Pay the Piper
Sheesh. The price of gold briefly hit $1,007.00 per ounce today, “the best price since the historic levels reached in March last year.”
That means the value of the dollar is going down. Maybe that’s because China — which owns us — is diversifying out of dumping the dollar.
The Right Warns: Obama Had Better Not be an Uppity Ni@@er Tomorrow Night
Is Yellowstone Getting Ready to Blow?
I was at the hairdresser this morning and I happened across this fascinating article about the volcanic activity in, around, and under Yellowstone National Park. Check out the photos and/or, better yet, the interactive feature, if nothing else.
Now the Wingers are Saying Obama’s too Charismatic to Speak to Our Kids
That’s right folks.
As we know, Obama can’t do anything right in the eyes of the wingers so now that his speech to kids about staying in school and doing well didn’t turn out to be a revised edition of Mein Kampf, they’ve got to find something to criticize him about. So, Joe Watkins (a former Bush 41 guy – you’ll probably recognize him) came up with this: “…[H]e’s so popular and persuasive that parents don’t want to compete with that.”
Okay. I’ll take this seriously for a minute and ask, are conservatives really that insecure? Really? I think this is an insult for one and for two, when is the “liberal media” going to burst out laughing when these guys say things like this?
Unions
Thanks to the Labor Unions for the day off yesterday. Oh, and for Saturday’s and Sunday’s off too.

Van Jones — It Was All About Oil
In the end, the Van Jones saga was all about oil companies trying to hold on to their monopoly. At least they “just” sought (and, obviously, obtained) his ouster. Wouldn’t put it past these “freemarketeers” to resort to assassination.
Corporate Power Gone Wild
If you think corporations have too much power now, there may come a time in the not too distant future when you long for these good old days. The Supreme Court is set to hear a case that, if it rules in favor of the Plaintiff, could essentially obliterate any voice — and I mean ANY VOICE — the people have and place all the power and influence exerted in Washington in the hands of corporations. Here are the details: A Threat to Fair Elections.
