One Billion for Contractors in Iraq? Change We Can’t Believe In

The U.S. spends how many bazillions on its defense budget — meaning bases and troops and equipment and food for the troops and clothes and guns and all that, but yet, that’s not enough?  Our troops can’t do what needs to be done?  We’ve got to add to that spending — spending that exceeds what the rest of the world combined spends on defense — and add a new arm of expenses that includes $1 billion for “contractors?

Where and when is this layering on of big bucks on big bucks going to end?  And how do you think the troops feel working side by side with some guy who’s “contractor” boss is paying him 200% more than the soldier’s getting.  That isn’t right.  Why can’ we do what needs to be done on our military budget alone.  Why add this “contractor” budget to our already-bloated military spending?

Oh, and by the way, I thought Obama was going to put an end this kind of thing.
