Wookiee Died Today
My friend’s heart-dog Wookiee died today. Look at that beautiful face — those eyes:

Love you Wookiee and CH.
Another O’Reilly, Beck, Hannity-Inspired Murder?
There was Dr. George Tiller. Now there’s Bill Sparkman.

And as of 8:30 p.m. ET tonight, Fox is silent:

A Follow Up on One of the Summer’s Racial Hullabaloos
Remember those African American and Hispanic kids who were tossed out of that Philadelphia swim club a few months back and all the denials from the MSM that naw, it didn’t have had anything to do with racism! We don’t have racism in this country!
Wrong again. The Philadelphia Human Relations Commission has ruled that discrimination, not “safety concerns,” was the reason the kids were turned away:
The club must pay a $3.35 million fine or $50,000 for each child discriminated against.
Good news, all-in-all, but what a tragedy that innocent children had to experience this. It will undoubtedly stick with them forever.
The Dept. of Justice Might Want to Bone-Up on the Constitution
Al Franken had to remind them what is says today.
Glenn Beck’s Afraid of a Free Press
Looks like the righties hate a free press, or at least, a press that doesn’t portray them in the same fawning light as Fox “News” does. The press was barred today in Hong Kong when Sarah Palin gave a speech there (oh, and by the way, she took three “pre-arranged” questions), and the press will be barred on Saturday when Glenn Beck is given the keys to his hometown, Mt. Vernon, Washington.
This is the anthesis of what the Founding Fathers had in mind. Oh, and if these two creeps are so confident of what they have to say, what’s the problem? Can’t they defend themselves?
Republican Congressman Worries About His Poor Lobbyist-Constituents
Senator Pat Roberts (R-KS) wants to make sure that legislation regarding health care that is up for a vote remains online for 72-hours before the vote is held so his lobbyist friends have a change to look at it and to make recommendations. So they can say “hey, wait a minute. Have you considered this?”
What a guy, but think about this for a minute. People like Roberts are so accustomed to working for lobbyists, instead of for the people in their districts, that they have no qualms whatsoever about saying something like this out loud. They have forgotten why they are in Washington to begin with — as in to represent the people. Nothing in their brain says, oops, maybe I shouldn’t say this (much less think it or do it).
Tragic.
Global Warming
Another “unprecedented” weather event occurred today in Australia, while torrential rain continues in the southeast U.S.
Is Obama “Overexposed”?
The answer to that question — per the meme of the corporate media — is, of course yes. Hoping to confirm that spin, NBC and the Wall Street Journal conducted a poll which didn’t bear it out. A majority of Independents and Democrats said his exposure was “the right amount,” whereas a majority of Republicans thought he was overexposed.
The funny thing about this whole exercise, imho, is that the media assumes everyone watches the idiotic Sunday talking head shows.
