The Washington Post Conveniently Forgets About Eric Cantor’s Health Care Bill
The Washington Post is reporting that GOP House leader John Boehner Boner said today that, “We expect it [the GOP's health care bill] to be ready in the next several days.” The Post’s headline over that quote is: “House GOP prepping alternative health-care bill.”
What am I missing here from out in the hinterland? Washington Post reporters marinade in D.C. politics. So where was WaPo reporter Ben Pershing back in June when GOP Golden Boy Eric Cantor unveiled his party’s alternative health-care bill? And instead of reporting that the GOP is “prepping” an “alternative” bill, why isn’t Pershing asking Boner what the hell happened to Cantor’s bill? Why isn’t it on the table? What are the details? Why do they feel the need to roll out another one? Etc., etc., etc?
Hello.
Houston Could Elect its First Gay Mayor Tomorrow
Hey, why hasn’t the “liberal media” been all over this?
If this happens — in Texas — I will be blown away.
Go Houston! Prove to the world that you’re a part of the 21st Century.
Neil Cavuto’s Bullshit Retort in Defense of “Fair and Balanced”
Neil Cavuto was on a roll today:
Cavuto took the opportunity, after airing a short interview with Corzine shot outside a rally, to “make something very very clear.”
“The notion that the better part of ‘fair and balanced’ is not to include any interview with any candidate because his opponent refuses to come on is simply something we don’t subscribe to here,” Cavuto said. “The alternative for you would be no guests.”
“We invite all parties, all candidates all the time. Sometimes, in fact most times, we make real pests of ourselves. But we always try because you deserve that, always,” he added.
Yeah, right.
I monitored Neil Cavuto for five years over at the News Hounds (help yourself to the 1,650+ posts I put up) and what Cavuto didn’t say was that (1) when Fox has a “liberal” guest on they won’t let him or her finish a sentence; (2) they post a derogatory chyron at the bottom of the screen; (3) they come on later in the show or the next day with an “editorial” or a guest or two to re-spin what the “liberal” said.
Sure, the occasional “real” Democrat has appeared on Fox (not counting DINO “Democrats” like Evan Bayh and Bob Beckel, Cavuto faves), but if they say anything that the RNC doesn’t want Fox’s audience to know — something the audience might like — Fox goes into full spin mode to quash it.
I’ve seen Cavuto have these “we are so fair and balanced” fits before. Don’t know if he’s trying to convince himself or the audience.

What Say You RNC?
Doug Hoffman, the winger the radicals in the GOP planted in NY-23 to run for the House seat there, adheres to nothing more than the vague God, guns, gays and abortion “principles” of the likes of Sarah Palin (and Glenn Beck, who Hoffman said was his “mentor” today).
Andrew Sullivan points out that if the GOP expects, in the long run, to attract moderate Republicans again, they need to answer a few hard questions.
Rep. Joe (“You Lie”) Wilson — Black Belt Hypocrite
Representative Joe (“You Lie”) Wilson (R-SC) has got the guts, or the ignorance, or the chutzpah or whatever-you-want-to-call-it to accuse President Obama of being responsible for the H1N1 vaccine shortage after he voted against funding for the vaccine to begin with! There’d be no vaccine at all if he had his way.
Unbelievable.
The US v. the World in Health Care Costs
Here are some interesting charts showing how much the medical system in the U.S. charges for physicians’ fees, scans/imaging and drugs compared to other countries and to Medicare. It is Out. Of. Control!
People Who Vote for Hoffman in NY-23 Tomorrow Will be Slashing Their Own Throat
Hoffman wants to slash funding to Fort Drum, the area’s largest employer.
Of course, if Hoffman wins and his victory is due largely to Tea Party-types worried about government spending, I’m sure they’ll be honored to sacrifice their jobs for the good of the economy.
It’s All About Sarah
Virginians are getting a robocall today urging them to vote for “Sarah’s principles.” The script makes no mention of the GOP gubernatorial candidate, Bob McDonnell.
Fox News Readies the Victim Meme for the GOP in N.J. Governor Race
New Jersey will elect a new governor tomorrow. Polls show that the race is essentially tied between incumbent Jon Corzine, a Democrat, and the Republican, Chris Christie.
Also on the ballot tomorrow is the race for governor in Virginia between Democrat Creigh Deeds and Republican Bob McDonnell, and the New York State House race between Democrat Bill Owens and Republican Doug Hoffman. The Republican candidate is solidly ahead in both Virginia and New York, but again, in New Jersey, the two candidates are neck-and-neck. Republicans are drooling at the thought of all three of their candidates winning because they want to use those victories to pound the table and claim that the results are a referendum against President Obama and all he stands for.
So what do you do if the tight race in N.J. doesn’t go your way? You do what all good Republicans do; you play the victim and you get your media arm, Fox “News,” to help you:
