Checking Out — Making Cookies
These delicious “cookies” a friend of mine made recently — eat one and, I’m not kidding, you’ll want ten more — resemble a not-too-sweet bon-bon with the texture and taste of a brownie, covered in a “crispy” chocolate crust.
I thought they’d take hours to make, but no:
1 pkg Oreo cookies (we used regular, but I bet it would be awesome with the mint ones or even the PB ones depending on your taste)
1 pkg cream cheese
1 box of bakers chocolate (again, we used regular, but looking back, white chocolate would have been amazing!)Process cookies in blender or food processor until fine. Using hands, mix the cookie crumbs with cream cheese until you can no longer see any white. Form a large ball to pull from. Pull off small pieces and form into a ball. It’s best to have one person doing this part and a second pair of hands to melt the Baker’s chocolate and dip the balls in to cover. Place on waxed paper and place in the freezer overnight to harden.
Make some. Guaranteed. You’ll love them.
Pat Buchanan — MSNBC’s Main Man
Does Pat Buchanan have an apartment at MSNBC? He was on the Joe and Mika (-excuse-me-while-I-check-out-how-I-look-in-the-monitor) show this morning and tonight, he was on Tweetie’s show.
Why is he so revered over there? Oh, that’s right; so MSNBC can look like it’s “fair and balanced.” But my god, Buchanan is a relic from the 60′s. Isn’t it time to update your guest list Rolodex?
The White House Can’t Justify Citigroup’s Billion Dollar Tax Break
White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs was asked today about the billions of dollars in tax breaks Citigroup was given in a “deal” to repay its TARP money (i.e. taxpayers are the big losers).
The guy hemmed and hawed but couldn’t justify a “quiet change to the law” that took place last Friday specifically for Citigroup.
What I want to know is since when are laws changed by essentially waving a wand? Where are the checks and balances?
Evan Bayh Is Fox’s Kind of Democrat
“Democratic” Senator Evan Bayh of Indiana probably has no idea what a valuable service he performs for Fox “News” when he appears on a Fox show, like as Your World w/Neil Cavuto, Fox’s alleged “business news” program, which he did today. Bayh was on to bash President Obama for spending too much money. (Believe me, you never saw a Republican on Fox bashing Bush for spending too much money).
So without saying a word, Fox can stand back, smile smugly, wink and say hey, see, even Democrats think Obama’s spending too much. It’s not just Republicans He must be really, really bad. Nah nah nah na nah.
But again, the key is that you don’t see Republicans on Fox, criticizing Republicans. But hey, there’s nothing better than a Democrat willing to criticize a Democrat.
UPDATE: More on Evan Bayh’s inability to see beyond his own nose here.
Unemployment Rate in Detroit Probably at 50%
The last time I visited Detroit was probably in about 1974. It was a pretty raw place then. I can’t imagine what it’s like now.
Mark Udall Ain’t No “Liberal”
Hey Colorado, here’s a heads up: “Boulder liberal” Senator Mark Udall (D-CO) voted against the drug importation bill yesterday.
Break Time – Space
Beautiful pictures of “30 baby solar systems bursting into life in the Orion Nebula.”
Rupert Murdoch Sends His Staff Best Wishes for the “Holidays”
Rupert Murdoch, the owner of Fox News’ parent company, News Corp., has sent an end-of-year memo congratulating his staff for surviving a difficult year and concluding with: “My sincere best wishes to you and your families for the holidays.”
The holidays?
This mind you, again, from the owner of Fox News — the outfit that is head cheerleader in the yearly faux outrage over the alleged “war on Christmas.”
Time Magazine Has its Head Up its A**
Time magazine has named Ben Bernanke its “person of the year.” And no, they didn’t name him person of the year because he was asleep at the wheel during the second-worst financial meltdown in the history of the planet. They named him person of the year because he’s a great guy and as a matter of fact, we should thank him.
