Joe Trippi Sells His Soul to Fox

Remember Joe Trippi?  He was Howard Dean’s outspoken, hot-headed, passionate campaign manager in 2004.  Geez, I’m late to this news, but here he is now; down the rat hole:

He sold his $oul.

Faux will use him and tout him as a major, big-deal, “authentic,” real, live, liberal.

Sad.

Haiti’s Deep Ties to the United States

Consortium News has a brief history as to the ties between Haiti and the United States:

Few Americans understand how important Haiti’s contribution to U.S. history was.

And natch, the “liberal media” doesn’t help us understand…

Rupert Murdoch — Anything for a Buck

The Times of London — owned by Rupert Murdoch — published an excellent article last May explaining why Haiti is so poor and desperate and why it was “in danger of complete collapse,” even then, before the earthquake.

Meanwhile, Murdoch’s Faux News — judging from what I saw today, post-earthquake  — is looking down its nose at the whiny, dependent Haitians who refuse to suck it up and get their act together.

Just call him whichever-way-the-wind-blows-Murdoch.  He’s willing to kiss liberal-London’s ass while at the same time kissing the Tea Partier’s ass here in the U.S.  Whatever it takes to make a buck.

The Race for Ted Kennedy’s Seat Heats Up

I subscribe to several conservative/winger newsletters. The number of desperate-sounding emails I’ve received about Tuesday’s vote to fill Ted Kennedy’s seat has increased over the last several days.  Here’s one I got from Newsmax just now:

An Urgent Message From Our Sponsor, The League of American Voters

Dick Morris Letter Below!

Dear Reader:

Time is critical. Americans all over the country are fed up with the Obama administration. They don’t want his radical healthcare program.

Citizens from states like Massachusetts, Nebraska, Florida and others are rising up as never before.

Even in liberal states such as Massachusetts citizens are showing their outrage over the Obama-Pelosi-Reid alliance and it’s dismal record at creating jobs and inability to protect us against terrorism.

The Democrats know that the final vote has not taken place on the healthcare bill and that key senators and congressmen are starting to waver.

The politicians in Washington have seen the latest Rasmussen poll with Obama’s job approval down to 46 percent.

It is vital that we strike right now with a TV ad campaign in key states across the nation. States such as Massachusetts, Nebraska, Colorado, Florida and others must be targeted to expose the dangerous Obama-Pelosi-Reid healthcare plan and the trios out-of-control spending plans.

If polling data and other indices of public opinion reflect the growing outrage at Obama, the liberals in Washington will think twice before they vote for more taxes, spending, and regulation.

The League of American Voters will have a new ad this weekend exposing Obama-Pelosi-Reid and their allies.

The League, where I serve as chief strategist, urgently needs to spend $500,000 this weekend and beyond in states like Massachusetts.

You can help this effort by Going Here Now

I believe this ad will galvanize public opinion against Reid and Pelosi and Obama and offer real checks and balances in Washington.

Please donate in the next 24 hours so the ads can have an immediate effect on the national debate — Go Here Now.

Notice that this email doesn’t even mention the Republican candidate’s name?  Maybe this is why.

A Preview of the GOP Meme As November Draws Near

Democrats are digging their own grave by capitulating to the health insurance industry on the health care bill.  Take a look at what John Shadegg (R-AZ) had to say today about that.

The Republicans don’t have far to look for some juicy and extremely effective campaign fodder to use in November.

Why Democrats don’t see this coming beyond me.

Another House Republican Announces His Retirement

Remember all the hullabaloo a couple weeks ago about how congressional Democrats were deciding not to run and they were dropping like flies?

Well, get a load of this from Politico:

Rep. John Shadegg (R-Ariz.) announced today that he will retire from the House at the end of his term. …  Shadegg, an Arizona conservative elected in the Republican revolution of 1994, becomes the 14th House Republican not to run for reelection this cycle.

I think a total of 6 Democrats have decided not to run but here we have the 14th Republican deciding not to.  The “liberal media” would have us believe the Democrats are in shambles, when in reality roughly twice as many Republicans have bowed out.

When, oh when, will we have a decent media?

The Fox News Channel (FNC) is the New GOP

Here is an absolutely fantastic, must-read piece from Andrew Sullivan about how the Fox News Channel is the new GOP.

Money quote:

Forget the RNC, Michael Steele or John Boehner. Ignore Romney. The new RNC is FNC. Roger Ailes is creating a new political entity that could redefine the right in America for a generation, and if it gets to power, will make the two terms of George W. Bush look like a golden era. No one in the GOP can stop this. Because Ailes now has their entire base in his hands. What he frames they will believe.

Rupert Murdoch Steals Content From Blogs

From Jane Hamsher:

But it’s ironic that just as Rupert Murdoch begins blocking [his] content from search engines, he should be cribbing the work of others without credit.

Does Fox Lie About Everything?

Was just watching Fox (12:39 p.m. ET) when the host said they were going to go live to Bill Hemmer in Haiti with “some of the first live pictures from there.”

Not exactly.  CNN’s Anderson Cooper was live there yesterday morning.

Attention New Yorkers: Meet the Real Harold Ford, Jr.

Brave New Films has put together this video of the real Harold Ford, Jr. — Ann Coulter’s favorite Democrat — who wants to be your next United States senator.

My favorite quote:  “I have great, great respect and admiration for, for my former colleagues there” at Fox News.
