Keith Olbermann — Don’t Go to Hannity-Land
Keith Olbermann just gave one of his mini-comments (link to follow) during which he referred to Rush Limbaugh as a “commentator.”
But, per Keith, Rush is also a “comedian.”
Which is it Keith?’
Pick one and stick to it.
NBC Start$ Hyping the Vancouver Olympic$
My local NBC Denver channel never, and I mean never, covers mens’ skating events during its evening news. But oh, wait, tonight it did. Tonight NBC Channel 9 in Denver aired a report about Jeremy Abbott winning his second U.S. figure skating title. Woo hoo! (Channel 9 didn’t cover his first title win).
Gosh, could NBC’s sudden interest in skating have anything, maybe an itty bitty bit to do with “NBC VANCOUVER 2010?”
I kinda think so.
Ed Schultz is Such a Tool
My husband is watching The Ed Show. His guests are long-time conservative radio talk show host Michael Medved, who seems to be on every freakin’ day, and Bill Press, a “liberal” radio talk show host and a Washington insider who’s been trying to make a name for himself for years.
What a yawner. The Ed Show is nothing new. It’s more of the same. It’s an attempt at being “fair and balanced” while, yawn, featuring the same ol’ faces, voices and points of view we’ve been hearing for, literally, decades.
Yo, Ed. Bust out of that bubble. There are so many fresh and interesting voices out here. Purge that damn Rolodex.
(Ain’t gonna happen. Ed has sold his soul. Problem is, he doesn’t know it.)
Righties Laying Groundwork for Blame if Scott Brown Loses Tomorrow
Need I say more?
It’s never their fault, of course.
What Ever Happened to the Separation of Church and State?
Look at these pictures of the “secret Jesus messages” that have been stamped on U.S. military weapons.
Talking Points Memo has more.
This is SO unAmerican.
Martin Luther King, Jr. and Sarah Palin
It is so incredibly disingenuous for Sarah Palin to say anything nice about Martin Luther King, Jr.:
If he were alive today she would hate his guts even more than she hates President Obama’s guts.
There’s “the Media,” and Then There’s the Media
I read somewhere last week that it was possible that Blackwater, now known as Ze, had been hired to protect the reporters and crew of a major television news outlet while they were in Haiti. Whether or not Blackwater is involved, the likes of ABC, NBC, FOX and CNN undoubtedly hire (or bring their own) security personnel when they go to a place like that.
Meanwhile, there’s the other media: Over the weekend, Amy Goodman of DemocracyNow! traveled to Haiti with at least one other person, Sharif Kouddous. Here is a picture of their, ahem, “hotel” room which Kouddous posted earlier today. Not exactly high-security, Blackwater-esque.
(But DemocracyNow!’s reporting beats the big boys any day.)
Coakley v. Brown
Last night I emailed my friend LH who lives just south of Boston. I wondered what her thoughts were regarding Martha Coakley’s chances of winning in Massachusetts tomorrow:
I will be very surprised if she wins. The democrats have fallen short with campaigning and their ads are horrible. The same old thing. She is just running an attack campaign. Unfortunately, I predict Scot Brown will win. There ads are very good and personal and positive.
If Coakley in fact does lose, what will the Democratic establishment learn? That they have to “move to the center” or that they have to start being real Democrats (not Republicans-lite) and produce the change they’ve been promising? It will be fascinating (but, I fear, depressing) to see.
