Mattel’s “News Anchor Barbie” Has Got to be Modeled After the “Fox News Babes”

Mattel is out with a new Barbie, a “News Anchor Barbie.“
The only “news anchors” who wear clothes like that and who uniformly have blond hair are — you guessed it — the Fox News Babes. Oh, and there’s this too.
In all seriousness, this Mattel doll is disgusting and it sends a very bad message. The last thing we need in this age of an atrocious media is to teach young girls that journalism equals sex/sex appeal. Fox knows that and exploits it no end but I hope a time comes when “anchor Barbies” (and we news consumers) re-learn the definition of “news anchor,” as defined by the Society of Professional Journalists:
