Mitt Romney Wimps Out — Doesn’t Tackle Terrorist Sitting in Front of Him

Emails and tweets are rolling in tonight about how Mitt Romney was “physically threatened” on an Air Canada flight today:

Republican politician Mitt Romney was physically threatened by a violent passenger on an Air Canada flight leaving Vancouver this morning.

Mr. Romney, who has been in Vancouver since Friday for the Olympic Winter Games, did not respond to the attack. Instead, he allowed the airline crew to deal with the incident, according to his spokesman Eric Fehrnstrom.

Mr. Romney, 62, and his wife, Ann, were sitting in Row 15 of the economy section of the Embrarer 190 airplane, waiting for the plane to take off when the incident happened.

The man sitting in front of Mr. Romney’s wife dropped his seat back and when Mr. Romney asked him to move it upright for takeoff, the man became “physically violent.” Another report said that the man tried to strike Mr. Romney.

Gov. Romney did not retaliate,” said Mr. Fehrnstrom.

Mr. Romney was not injured. The pilot returned to the gate and the passenger and his bags were removed by the RCMP.

Pretty boy “did not respond to the attack?”  Remember Todd Beamer?

He “allowed the crew to deal with the incident?”  He was probably worried about his hair.  Then again, is that like the Justice Department putting terrorists on trial in civilian courts?  I mean, shouldn’t he have intervened and waterboard someone?  Taken them to Gitmo?

“Romney did not retaliate?”  Come on!  This is not what tough-guy Republican draft-dodgers do.  They send their fellow passengers into the fight and then they stand by and egg them on.  Think Iraq.

Yo.  Mitt.  You can’t be prez in 2012 with this on your resume.   Rent a bunker and a carry-conceal permit.  It’s a new day out there.  After all, women girls carry guns and rip the guts out of animals these days.

Time to slaughter some turkeys to get a feel…

Chris Matthews is a Liar or Dumber Than Dumb — Anything to Protect His Corporate Masters

Is MSNBC’s Chris Matthews (a/k/a “Tweetie”) stupid or is he a liar?  I don’t think activists on the right or the left feel they have a voice in Washington anymore (that would be The Big Issue, IMHO),  yet Tweetie said this bird-brained thing earlier today on MSNBC:  “Activists on the left and right” control the Congress.

We do?

I mean, that’s pretty much the opposite of what we’re all feeling out here, isn’t it?

Jesus!

Replace Dan Parker as DNC Chair in Indiana

Geez Louise.  Rachel Maddow just interviewed Dan Parker, the Democratic party chair in Indiana.  He was as lifeless as a sloth; looked like he was going to fall asleep right there on the set and fall off his chair.

Wow.  That’s encouraging.  Glad to see that — in light of the news about ByeBayh — the DSCC is, ahem, up and running and kicking ass.  (Sadly, not.  The DSCC still doesn’t realize that Gore lost in 2000.)

The International Space Station Linked to the Internet …”About a Month Ago”?

I’m watching the CBS Evening “News” –  a report about how the wife of one of the astronauts on the International Space Station communicates with him.  The reporter said the space station, “got Internet about a month ago.”  About a month ago?

I’m not the most tech savvy person on Earth by any stretch of the imagination but I “got Internet” in roughly 2002.  The International Space Station “got Internet about a month ago?”

What?  This changes the way I think about NASA and the space program.  I imagined they were playing around with technologies we hadn’t heard of or dreamed of yet and that they were light years ahead of us mere mortals.

Guess.  Not.

Howard Kurtz, “Media Critic”? Not Exactly

The next time you read a column by Howard Kurtz, the Washington Post’s “media critic,” or you see him on CNN’s “Reliable Sources,” remember this:  Howard Kurtz Faithfully Jots Down Misleading Fox Attack on [Rachel] Maddow.

“Media critic?”  “Reliable Source?”  Misnomers both.

Obama — Call Off Your FDA Gestapo

Just came across this article from FoodFreedom about how the FDA raided a non-commercial Amish farm in Pennsylvania on February 4.

Sounds like pure harassment to me.  And why is the FDA picking on an independent, non-commercial farmer — “I do not sell anything to the public,” — when factory farms are the ones making us sick?

Seriously.  This is nuts.  What’s going on here?  What kind of culture exists within the FDA that something like this a priority, much less possible?  Don’t they have enough big fish to fry?  Is this change we can believe in?

———-

I know the situations are somewhat different, but the raid on the Amish farm reminds me of this:  Despite Obama Administration’s Promise, DEA Continues Raids on Medical Marijuana Growers.

Since When is Donald Trump an Expert on Climate Change?

Memo to the dysfunctional, immature American media:  Some things should be ignored, or laughted at, such as when that well known climate change expert, Donald Trump sees snow and calls for Al Gore’s Nobel Prize to be revoked.

Fox News Viewers Not So Sure Who We Honor on Presidents’ Day

UPDATED below.

FoxNews.com has a poll up asking who we honor on President’s Day.  Here are the results as of 2:47 p.m. ET:

And notice the tricky way Fox touts the poll on its homepage (below).  Read the blurb under the picture.  If one didn’t know that Obama was our 44th president, one might think that Washington was winning the poll, while Obama was way down at #44:

UPDATED @ 10:47 p.m. ET.

This is what the online poll results look like now

A Moment of “Unspeakable National Shame”

From Jonathan Turley:

Dick Cheney came out this weekend in an interview with ABC’s Jonathan Karl to proclaim “I was a big supporter of waterboarding.” It is an astonishing public admission since waterboarding is not just illegal but a war crime. It is akin to the Vice President saying that he supported bank robbery or murder-for-hire as a public policy.

The ability of Cheney to openly brag about his taste for torture is the direct result of President Barack Obama blocking any investigation or prosecution of war crimes. For political reasons, Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder have refused to carry out our clear obligations under international law to prosecute for such waterboarding.

[...]

Cheney’s statement should be a moment of unspeakable national shame.

Amen.

Happiest City in America

I have the tremendous good luck and fortune to live in the “happiest and healthiest” city in America, Boulder, Colorado.  It is a great place.  And, it just so happens, I moved here from the third worst place to live, Flint, Michigan.

The “curse of Chief Niwot” is a legend around here:

Chief Niwot, it is said, as eloquent and capable as he was with the English language learned from his brother-in-law, his sister’s husband, the trapper John Poisal, told the European erstwhile settlers the area was cursed. He is said to have told them the Curse of Boulder Valley is: “People seeing the beauty of this valley will want to stay, and their staying will be the undoing of the beauty.”

Fact is, we haven’t screwed it up, yet.  The people of Boulder voted to tax themselves, over and over again, so they could build a buffer of open space — trails, dog parks and green-ways — between them and the neon-lit, Taco Bell-Target-Walmart suburbs of Denver.

The citizens of Boulder — a very liberal town — were and are willing to pay to support a stupendous quality of life.

Compare that to the hell hole the winger tax-cutters in Colorado Springs, 90-minutes to the south, are living in.

Those Poor Over-Taxed Corporations?

A Caribbean Tax Holiday for U.S. Businesses:

These two tiny companies illustrate a growing trend. At a time when the Obama Administration is preparing for a bitter battle with big multinationals over closing arcane tax loopholes, legions of mostly small retailers and service providers are minimizing their U.S. tax bills by sending credit-card receipts to Panama, Nevis, Aruba, the Cayman Islands, and other business-friendly havens. The IRS estimates that $100 billion a year in revenue is escaping U.S. sales and income taxes in this manner.
