Obama — Stop Watching Cable News

I’m watching Countdown with Keith Olbermann. His guests are Sam Stein and Lawrence O’Donnell. They’re talking about how Democrats are “scared to death” (Stein) about the prospect of using reconciliation to pass a public option. O’Donnell says that what the White House learned from Massachusetts was that people really, really, really want bipartisanship.
Polls show — overwhelmingly – that Americans want a public option. Period. They want action. Relief. Screw bipartisanship.
Meanwhile, my local progressive radio station, AM760, has been airing a promo featuring Senator Michael Bennet (D-CO), the author of a letter to Harry Reid reviving the issue of the public option that roughly 16 senators have signed on to this week.
In the promo — audio of an interview Bennet did with one of the AM760 personalities — Bennet talks about what Obama said to him about how the country can break the deadlock it’s in. Bennet laughs and says Obama thinks people should stop watching cable news.
If Obama thinks — wrongly — that Americans want bipartisanship over a public option — I suggest he stop watching cable news.

Democrats are scared to death to lead, apparently. If they can’t point to an armload of Republicans and say “they voted for it too” then they will just piss away every opportunity.
We are so screwed.
