Obama Avoids Taking Jab at Bunning

It seems to me that Jim Bunning (R-KY) is the poster boy for everything that’s wrong with the GOP, and that what he’s doing in terms of holding up unemployment benefits and medicaid payments, etc., should be made known to every man, woman and child in the country. It’s a gift to Democrats.
But our wimpy president — who still, still, after more than a year of blatant obstructionism by Republicans — continues to hope, unbelievably, that they will change. Case in point: CNN’s Ed Henry was “tipped off” today and told that Obama would “take a jab” at Bunning when he stepped off Air Force One on a trip to Georgia. He didn’t do it. Henry later found out that the Bunning line was taken out of his remarks because Obama “felt it would be too partisan.”
As Joe Sudbay over at AmericaBlog notes, “It might be a good idea for the President to engage himself in the Senate’s proceedings when the consequences are so enormous. People might like to know that their President is fighting for them instead of avoiding a fight.”
Amen to that! Obama is surprisingly — shockingly might be a better word — ignorant as to the game of politics.
UPDATE: Here’s more evidence of that obstructionism, and this was probably happening as Obama was getting off that plane.
