Beautiful, Beautiful Mars

A friend sent me an email alert this morning pointing me to this collection of images of the surface of Mars taken by NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter. The pictures blew me away. We are so used to images of the Moon; miles and miles of dusty craters surrounded by fields of burnt-looking boulders. The surface of Mars, on the other hand, is covered in surreal beauty, areas of incredible texture and color. Wow.
Here’s one of my favorite images:
They sure look like trees to me.
