Tea Party Candidate Running Against Harry Reid Owes $200,000 in Back Taxes

Millionaire Jon Scott Ashjian is the Tea Party of Nevada’s candidate for U.S. Senate; he’s running against Harry Reid (D-NV).  Per an interview he gave to the Las Vegas Sun, Ashjian,

a small-business owner, has an IRS lien on his property because he owes more than $200,000 in back taxes, according to the county recorder.

[...]

He said he’s working with his accountant to clear up all problems, which, he said, should be accomplished in the coming weeks.

In fact, he said, the struggles of small-business men like himself were the impetus for his campaign.

“This elitist crowd doesn’t have any clue about the pain and suffering experienced by the average American,” he said. “Every small-business owner is in the same boat.”

How out of touch can a person be?  Mr. Ashjian is the elite.  My husband and I are middle class, but based on the taxes we owe for 2009, we would have to fail to pay our taxes for 67 years in order to rack up a tab of $200,000.

Dear [recipient name was inserted here],

    Dear Editor,
Has anyone bothered to ask Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid why the US
Constitution was changed to have Prohibition? ObamaCare is
Unconstitutional and they both Voted for it! Can Pelosi and Reid explain
why it was necessary to pass the 18th Amendment baning the
manufacture, sale and transportation of intoxicating liquors? If the
Government can constitutionally use the the concept of promoting our
“General Welfare” to force us to purchase health insurance, with the threat
of fines and jail why did previous elected officials feel the 18th
amendment was even necessary? Answer that Nancy and Harry!

    Sincerely,

    Joseph DuPont
