Eric Massa — Tell Me More

Did Eric Massa resign because his cancer reoccurred?  Did he resign because of an “ethics complaint” about “sexual harassment,” or because Rahm Emanuel forced him out?

I can’t wait to hear more.

Ed Schultz — Call Kelly O’Donnell Out for Her “DemocRAT Leadership” Remark

Ed Schultz as a radical lefty?  I don’t think so.  The guy has so marinated himself in the jargon of the mainstream media that this didn’t jump out at him today during “The Ed Show” on MSNBC:
It was roughly 6:20 p.m. ET.  Ed’s guest was NBC News’ Kelly O’Donnell.   The topic was Rep. Eric Massa (D-NY), the “sex scandal” he was allegedly involved in, and his resignation from the House.  During O’Donnell’s report, she spoke of “the DemocRAT leadership.”

Ed, hello.  There’s no such thing as “the DemocRAT leadership,” but there is such a thing as the DemocratIC leadership.  If you don’t notice when one of your colleagues makes a disparaging remark about the party you supposedly love, you’ve lost yourself in the “bidness.”

Break Time — “Stone Mushrooms”

The Giant Stone Mushrooms of Beli Plast:

The stone mushrooms of Beli Plast are just a little larger than your average shroom.  The biggest is over three meters [about ten feet] in height and they were formed thousands of years ago.  They are made from lime stone which can be eroded by water.  Over many centuries the water of a lake or a river can undercut limestone – and sometimes it can have bizarre results, especially when the water responsible for the erosion has disappeared.  Alone like mushroom shaped islands it is little wonder that supernatural tales spring up around them.

I think they’re beautiful.

Poll: Obama Beats All Living Presidents as Best Person in Crisis

I just got an email from the ultra-conservative Newsmax with this in the subject line:  Bill Clinton Best for Crisis Today, Poll Finds.  I clicked on the link and went to this article: Bill Clinton Bests Former Presidents to Handle Crisis Today, Newsmax/Zogby Poll Finds.

The beginning of the article talks about how Clinton won among “former living U.S. presidents.”  It wasn’t until I read down 11 or 12 paragraphs that I came to this:

When all living presidents, including Obama, were listed as choices, Obama — despite his current low approval ratings — finished first with 29 percent of the vote, followed by Clinton with a strong second (19 percent), George W. Bush (18 percent), George H.W. Bush (8 percent), and Carter (2 percent).

[...]
Obama finished ahead of the other living presidents in all age groups, scoring the highest (30 percent) among respondents 65 and over.

He scored highest among Democrats (58 percent), but Clinton finished first among independents (24 percent) and George W. Bush was ahead among Republicans (41 percent).

Interestingly, despite his calls for higher taxes for the rich, Obama was ahead even among respondents with an income of $100,000 or more, winning 30 percent of the vote to Clinton’s 19 percent.

I have a feeling Newsmax hates, absolutely hates, the result of this poll.  Why else would they give it the title they did?  I can see them now, tearing their hair out that Obama won among all living presidents (and that their guys did so poorly).

So Now the Postal Service is a “Socialist Monopoly?”

Just heard Thom Hartmann interview Tad DeHaven of the libertarian Cato Institute.  The topic of discussion was the financial plight of the United States Postal Service, which, as you know, grew out of the Pony Express of 1860.

DeHaven’s argument, of course, insofar as he is a libertarian, was to privatize the P.O. and too bad if you live in an area where mail delivery costs more than in another and too bad if regular service to say the boonies of northern Wisconsin or Maine is nonexistent. Finally, as he signed off, he took at dig at Hartmann for wanting the Post Office to remain “part of the commons,” when he said Hartmann was supporting a “socialist monopoly.”

Man, it won’t be long before police and fire departments are “socialist monopolies” too.

“Massive Conservative Gathering in Just 18 Days”

Just got an email from the Tea Party Express touting a “massive conservative gathering,” on March 27:

Friends – one of the largest gatherings of conservatives will take place in 18 days – and we want to make sure you come out and join us for the huge “Showdown in Searchlight.”

The event is apparently intended to be an in-your-face rally against Harry Reid, as it will take place in Searchlight, Nevada.

Here’s a video promo that was included in the email. It was produced by “Paramount Communication” and posted on the YouTube account of “OurCountryPAC” (it’s a very slick production given the, ahem, “grassroots” nature of the Tea Partiers):

Anyway, I’ll be watching to see just how “huge” and “massive” this rally turns out to be.

Hypocrite Watch: Glenn Beck Worries the RNC is Playing On Our Fears

You don’t know whether to laugh or cry when you hear that Glenn Beck, America’s #1 fear mongerer, is “hacked off” by that RNC campaign memo, expressing concern that America is looking for “someone that is not going to play on our fears.”

Then again, this is all a game.  Come August, September and October, Beck and Fox will be playing the fear card 24/7 (as if they aren’t already).

Rep. Eric Massa (D-NY) Is the Kind of Democrat Fox News Loves

Fox “News” loves nothing more than a Democrat who’s unhappy with his party and who is willing to rip it to shreds (i.e., Evan Bayh is a fave), which is why Rep. Eric Massa (D-NY) will be Glenn Beck’s guest for the full hour tomorrow.

The I-told-you-DemocRATS-are-bad-people, gloat-o-meter will be off the chart.

Anti-Gay California State Senator Comes Out of the Closet

I’m sure California State Senator Roy Ashburn will be a much happier person now that he has stopped living a lie:

California State Sen. Roy Ashburn, a conservative Republican with a solidly anti-gay voting record, came out as gay today on a Bakersfield radio station talk show.  Ashburn’s sexual orientation had been the talk of Sacramento since the legislator was arrested for drunk driving after leaving a gay bar in the state capital last week.

“I am gay.  Those are the words that have been so difficult for me for so long.  It is something that is personal, and I don’t believe I felt with my heart that being gay would affect how I do my job,” Ashburn said.

Asked about his anti-gay voting record, Ashburn said, “I felt my duty, and I still feel this way, is to represent my constituents.”

Under Supposed “Regulatory Reform,” the Fed Will Police Itself

So, remember a year, year and a half ago when the economy was crashing and everyone was talking about how we needed to “reform” and/or “regulate” the banks and the Federal Reserve because neither of them saw the disaster coming?  (Well, they may have seen it coming but nobody did anything.)

Fast forward to the “regulatory reform” that is making its way through congress right now.  Thanks to the fact that, “The banks run the place.  I will tell you what the problem is, they give three times more money than the next biggest group,” the legislation is worded such that — get this — the power of oversight isn’t vested in an independent, outside group, it’s vested in the Federal Reserve itself.  It’s a farce.

All that money the banks are pouring into congress is paying off for them big time.

Sarah Palin Admits to Using “Socialized Medicine”

Sarah Palin:  Growing Up, I “Hustled Over the Border” [to Canada] for Health Care.

As the Washington Independent notes,

Palin, born in Idaho, lived in Wasilla, Alaska for most of her life. The nearest city in Canada, Whitehorse, is a 15 hour drive away. Anchorage is only 45 minutes away. I definitely want to hear more about this.

No kidding.  Me too.
