The Socialist U.S. Gov’t Saves Lives in Texas, and Beyond
The Associated Press –- 59 minutes ago:
The following products are being recalled [by the socialist FDA] because they could be contaminated with salmonella, an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children and others with weakened immune systems:
___
Barcel USA is recalling certain lots of Tostachos. The recalled flavored corn chips come in 3.17-ounce packages and were sold in grocery and convenience stores nationwide. No illnesses have been reported, according to the Irving, Texas, company.
So Texas, you want to secede? Do it. Damn this “socialism.”
The Fashion Folk Want Us to Believe That Cheap Means “Style”
Look at these screenshots of J.Jill’s homepage:
“Less structure, more style…”
“Less structure, more style” means clothes that are produced in the cheapest way possible: No buttons, no hems, no snaps, no zippers. “Rolled edges” on sweaters; forget ribbing. No collars. No cuffs. No yolks. No shoelaces or grommets (think Velcro). No clasps on bracelets or necklaces (ribbon ties are all the rage) and a nylon bag now costs as much as one made of leather. Oh, and remember the long-gone “feet” on handbags that kept the bottom from getting dirty? They’ve vanished. The sales pitch now is, “a nice flat bottom.”
NO structure, not “less structure.”
In other words, the people who sell us clothes are stripping away the details that cost a few cents to produce, but they’re not reducing their prices. In the end, “less structure” means a poorer product for you and me but more profit for you know who.
Bottom line? The cheap, sloppy, “less structured” look is something we’re supposed to love. It’s “style.”
The Tea Party Express III Begs People to Attend the “Showdown in Searchlight”
I’m on the Tea Party Express’ email list so I’ve been keeping track of their news about the “Showdown in Searchlight,” a “mega Tea Party rally” coming up at the end of March in Harry Reid’s backyard, Searchlight, Nevada. Sarah Palin, Joe the Plumber and Andrew Breitbart will speak. The event is meant to “kick off” the Tea Party Express III (which, far as I can tell, consists of nothing more than a flashy new bus).
But I have a feeling things aren’t going so well given the tone of this rather desperate-sounding email that landed in my inbox this afternoon:
Given the Tea Party’s dismal showing at its “Code Red” rally in D.C. today, it’ll be interesting to see what happens “in just 11 days” in Nevada.
Meet CNN’s New, Radical Extremist “Political Contributor,” Erick Erickson
CNN has taken into its fold Erick Erickson, the editor of Red State.com, who will be a regular “contributor” on “John King, USA,” a new weekday show that debuts on Monday. In an apparent attempt to emulate Fox “News,” CNN has thus legitimized a radical extremist. Some of Erickson’s more memorable quotes are here:
– Erickson defends Beck’s statement that Obama is “racist” and lashes out at “Obama Brownshirts.”
– Erickson calls Michelle Obama a “marxist harpy wife.”
– Erickson calls Souter a “goat fucking child molester.”
– Erickson: Purpose of Bachmann rally is “to tell Nancy Pelosi and the Congress to send Obama to a death panel.”
– Erickson on Obama’s Nobel Peace Prize: “I did not realize the Nobel Peace Prize had an affirmative action quota.”
– Erickson: Kennedy wanted to be a “martyr for the cause.”
– “Dorgan and Dodd are healthcare suicide bombers.”
– “It is and has always been the left” that resorts to violence.
This is very bad news for our country. The last thing we need is another hatemonger with a huge national (and international) megaphone.
Seven Years Ago Today, the NYT Was Publishing False Articles About Saddam’s WMD
Seven years ago today, on the eve of the Iraq war, the New York Times was publishing articles, based on lies fed to it by the Bush administration, about the extent of Saddam Hussein’s alleged WMD program. Here’s an example (the caps are in the original): THREATS AND RESPONSES — THE BIOTERROR THREAT — Iraq links Germs for Weapons to U.S. and France:
Iraq has identified a Virginia-based biological supply house and a French scientific institute as the sources of all the foreign germ samples that it used to create the biological weapons that are still believed to be in Iraq’s arsenal, according to American officials and foreign diplomats who have reviewed Iraq’s latest weapons declaration to the United Nations.
[...]
A copy of the pages of the Iraqi declaration dealing with biological weapons was provided to The New York Times, and it reveals the full variety of germs that Iraq says it obtained from abroad for its biological weapons program.
Judith Miller, the worst offender at the Times, was essentially a stenographer for the Bushies in terms of writing about their lies, and she is now, appropriately enough, at Fox “News.”
Countless thousands of lives and billions of dollars later, we’re still there. What a tragedy.
Shades of the Past — Public Was Divided on Medicare in the 1960′s
Sometimes people come to like a thing after they get to know it.
The IRS Sends Two Agents to CA Car Wash to Collect 4¢ Tax Debt
Interesting priorities: Corporations and rich people hide money all over the world and the U.S. looks the other way. A mom and pop car wash in California sends in a tax payment that is off by 4¢ and the IRS sends two agents to collect it.
Unreal.
Andrew Breitbart Fails in his Promise to Take Down the “Institutional Left”
On February 23, ultra-conservative “journalist” Andrew Breitbart vowed,
I took down the institutional left and I believe it’s gonna happen within the next three weeks.
Well, today marks the end of the three-week period and far as I know, the “institutional left” (whatever that is), is still standing.
Better luck next time Andy.
“A Few Hundred” People at “Code Red” Rally in D.C. (UPDATED)
Per the CBS radio news at 12:00 p.m. ET, “a few hundred people” are at the “Code Red” Tea Party rally in D.C.
The media coverage given to the Tea Partiers is disproportionate to its reach and power.
UPDATE: David Shuster just now (@ 12:34 p.m. ET) on the Ed Schultz Show said there are “a hundred or a hundred and fifty” people there — all yelling “TREASON!” about Nancy Pelosi and Democrats – egged on by Republican congresspeople for considering the use of reconciliation — something the Republicans used roughly 14 times in the last 20 years. As usual, the speakers count on the audience not knowing the facts.
Editor of Red State — Erick Erickson — to Join CNN
Yep, CNN just keeps on getting more and more “liberal:” RedState.com Editor, Erick Erickson, to Join CNN.
Erickson would be the same person who wrote that Justice Souter is a “goat f*cking child molester.” Classy huh? That’s how low CNN is stooping.
