David Frum Whines That Republicans Got “Shut-Out” of Health Care Debate

OMG. David Frum, one of the GOP’s master spinmeisters, was on The Ed Show a few minutes ago. Ed, Laura Flanders and Frum were discussing whether passing the health reform bill was a “make or break” event for President Obama’s presidency. Never mind that Obama spent essentially the last year begging and pleading with Republican to add their input to the discussion, Frum appeared to lay down the new Republican mantra: “It’s going to be a shut-out of Republican views,” and “We’re going to have a Democratic plan, when we could have had a balanced plan.”
Yo, people with short-term memories: Don’t forget: The Republicans didn’t offer one single idea or proposal about health care reform. That isn’t Obama’s fault. He waited and waited, to the immense frustration of some of us. For the Republicans to whine now about being “shut-out” is just a laughable lie.
Oh, and by the way, I think Frum’s argument will backfire. People are so sour on “Republican views,” I don’t think they’ll care that they were “shut-out.” They want action more than they want “bipartisanship.”
As an aside, one of my favorite quotes ever is this one from John Cole at Balloon Juice:
I really don’t understand how bipartisanship is ever going to work when one of the parties is insane. Imagine trying to negotiate an agreement over dinner plans with your date, and you suggest Italian and she states her preference would be a meal of tire rims and anthrax. If you can figure out a way to split the difference there and find a meal you will both enjoy, you can probably figure out how bipartisanship is going to work in the next few years.

Are you on drugs? Republicans offered numerous proposals and ideas on Health Care Reform.
Look.. if you only get your information from Huffington Post, Daily Kos, or Democratic Underground, you would have heard about it. Hell, it has been postedon RNC website for over a year.
- Ability to buy insurance across state lines to increase competition.
- Insurance portability
and much more.
Get your head out of the sand. There’s more to life then the drive-by media and kooky left-winged blogs.
