David Frum: Republicans Work for Fox, Not Vice Versa

The former Bush speech writer David Frum, who on Sunday wrote a scathing indictment of the Republican party’s behavior during the health care debate, was interviewed on “Nightline” last night.  Money quote:

Republicans originally thought that Fox worked for us, and now we are discovering we work for Fox.  And this, ah, the balance here has been completely reversed  And, the, the thing that sustains a strong Fox network is the thing that undermines a strong Republican party.

Wow.  Talk about karma.

This is huge.  I don’t see how the GOP can disengage from Fox (well, maybe when Rupert Murdoch and Roger Ailes die and only then if saner heads prevail) but I also can’t imagine running a party that is in fact controlled by a rogue propaganda network.

It’s going to be fascinating to see how this plays out.
