Tweet of the Day — From Roger Ebert
From the esteemed Roger Ebert:
Why I Don’t Watch CNN Anymore
A few minutes ago (at roughly 10:04 p.m. ET) CNN aired a chyon that read “Bypassing the Senate.” News reader Don Lemon went to a breathless Jessica Yellin (in Searchlight, NV — covering Sarah Palin at the Tea Party “Conservative Woodstock” rally there), who said that the 15 recess appointments President Obama made today were “very partisan” and that “Republicans’ hands are tied.”
George W. Bush made 171 recess appointments. Was that very relevant info included in what Lemon and Yellin reported? No.
That’s why I don’t watch “the most trusted name in news” anymore.
CNN is “Liberal?” You Ain’t Payin’ Attention
If you think CNN is “liberal,” watch this and get back to me. CNN is chasing Fox.
Break Time — Food
What a great idea for a party or for holiday gifts: Pie Pops. These are sweet but how about something savory too, like little spinach and cheese pie pops?
Hum. My imagination is running wild.
Sane People Forcing Wingers to Back Down in Virginia
Wingers thought they could impose their Dark Ages-like beliefs on the people of Virginia, but saner voices are prevailing: Virginians Buck Far Right Policies of McDonnell and Cuccinelli.
You go Virginia! Don’t make your motto: “Virginia is for Haters.”
Fox “News” in Emergency Mode
I see that Fox’s Neil Cavuto is working on a Saturday, which means Fox is in emergency mode; this time over the health care bill. He’s reporting live from Washington — with the Capitol behind him — in a special Saturday edition called “Final Diagnosis.”
The message, delivered through people such as Donald Trump, Mike Huckabee, and the president of Jerry Falwell’s “Liberty University,” is that the health care bill will (1) destroy the economy, (2) kill jobs, (3) make it so anyone and everyone can view your medical records, and (4) make college unaffordable.
Yep, it’s an emergency alright. Gotta make sure people don’t like the bill, before they do.
(Cavuto found it necessary at one point to say that the building behind him was “the nation’s Capitol — not the Vatican.” Wow. Quite an admission as to the intelligence of the audience, don’t ya think?)
