Utah is blazing a path (no pun intended) toward being the first state in the nation to adopt an official state gun, the Browning M1911. A Browning M1911 is the brand of (h/t arkarch) similar to the gun Jared Loughner used to shoot Gabby Giffords and kill six people.

Maybe Utah Governor Gary Herbert (R) will invite Giffords to the bill signing ceremony. Hey, he might even give her a pen.

The gun that wounded Gabby Gifford was a Glock semi-automatic, not a Browning M1911.
The Browning M1911 is far more deadly.
But the insane idea of picking a “State Gun” becomes very
evident here.

I should amend my post. My understanding is that they are equally powerful but yeah, you’re right. My wording is pretty bad in that it makes it seems as if they are exactly the same.
