Who is the Typical Homeless Person?

Three years ago I began volunteering one day a week at my local food bank. Prior to that, I thought the typical homeless person was an alcoholic man, aged roughly 20 to 55-years-old. You know, the kind of guy you see passed out in parks, surrounded by a filthy back pack and maybe a blanket or two.
Since then, I’ve learned that the typical homeless person is a child. Yes, a child. In the richest country on Earth, the typical homeless person is a child!

What is your solution?

Well, first of all I’d close about 90% of the 800+ bases the US operates around the world. Then I’d pull out entirely from Iraq. I’d eliminate almost all the corporate tax loop holes and I’d raise the tax rate on people making over $250,000. I think that would probably free up a good chunk of change.

Good ideas both.

I like that one too. However, I would add that after closing the loopholes we should lower the rate.
I’d raise the tax rate on people making over $250,000.
Any consideration to taxing the folks who currently pay none?

Yes. I’d tax “the folks” like GE (insofar as corporations are people, er, “folks”) who currently pay none: abcnews.go.com/Politics/general-electric-paid-federal-taxes-2010/story?id=13224558#.Ts3H_EpqO_Uhttp://sayitaintsoalready.com/2011/11/23/kim-kardashin-turns-feeding-the-poor-into-a-photoop/
