The Hypocrisy of the New Hampshire Union Leader

The publisher of the New Hampshire Union Leader (it’s a newspaper, not A. Union. Leader.) made an appearance on Fox today to talk about the newspaper’s endorsement of Newt Gingrich:

“I think — and this is crazy, but so are we — that Gingrich is going to have a better time in the general election than Mitt Romney,” publisher Joe McQuaid told FOX News. “I think it’s going to be Obama’s 99% versus the 1%, and Romney sort of represents the 1%.”

Whoa!  Yep, those 1%-ers are bad people, right?

The thing is, the Union Leader endorsed Steve Forbes in 2000 so McQuaid isn’t entirely opposed to 1%-ers.
