Fox Wouldn’t Say This About a Republican President

President Obama went to Florida yesterday to promote tourism.

I know.  It looks like a purely political move and it probably was.  But you can be sure Fox wouldn’t portray a “jobs” trip by a Republican president this way:  “Fantasyland:”

And there’s this:   Fox News ‘A-Team’ Psychologist: Being Married Three Times Could Make Gingrich A Better President.

Imagine Fox’s “A-Team” saying that about a Democrat.

Stay Home in Your Jammies

I love this:

If it weren’t for all these reporters watching the debate from the debate filing center how would we know what happened at the South Carolina debate?

Wait: you’re saying it was on TV?

All those reporters were sent to South Carolina to watch last night’s debate on…television?

Really?  REALLY?

Tom Brady — Not Exactly a Fan of the Tiny House Movement

This is the just-completed new home of New England Patriots’ quarterback, Tom Brady and his wife, Gisele Bundchen.

It has 22,000 square feet and eight bedrooms, a six-car garage, a butler’s room, a lagoon-shaped swimming pool with spa, a weight room and a wine cellar.

All that for three people (Brady and his wife have a young son).

This, on the other hand, is an aerial view of my 1,100 square foot house…probably equivalent to the size of Gisele’s closet.

It’s cozy and sunny and perfect I wouldn’t trade it for the world.  Then again, it would be nice if a beach on the Pacific ocean was just outside the back door..

AFSCME Launches Ad Blasting Mitt Romney

If Mitt Romney gets the nomination, this is what we’ll be seeing on televisions all across the country.  (Which is why I think the Republicans are insane to run him, especially this year, the year of the 1% versus the 99%):

(Via.)

P.S.  The bald guy pictured at the end is GOP Governor Rick Scott of Florida, who has one of the lowest approval ratings of any governor in the country.

Oh, and here’s an interesting factoid: Mitt Leaves NBC Florida Debate Uncertain:

NBC is denying reports that it plans to cancel this Monday’s GOP debate in Tampa Bay, Florida, because Mitt Romney has not yet committed to participating.

“Preparations for the NBC News, National Journal, Tampa Bay Times debate continue,” NBC spokesperson Erika Masonhall told me. “We fully intend to proceed with this long-planned event and we hope and expect all the qualifying candidates will participate.”

But as of this afternoon, NBC has left the standard Monday program listings in place — “Fear Factor” at 9 p.m. and “Rock Center” at 10 p.m. — a decision the network attributs to an abundance of caution. The network says those listings will be updated with more timely information as it becomes known.

Humm.

Pollster: Gingrich Has a 64% Chance of Winning in South Carolina Tomorrow

I can’t stand the minute-by-minute speculation and spin the 24/7 cables are engaged in this election year (ugh, and it’s only January), but I am interested in watching the Republican party deal with the mess they’ve gotten themselves into.

Apparently the establishment wing has decided Romney’s their guy, but you’ve gotta love watching them squirm over his screw-ups, especially during the last week or so.  And now that Santorum has been declared the winner in Iowa, it’s, well, funny actually, to see how they’re backtracking on the narrative that Romney is off to such a great start while trying their best not to give Santorum any airtime.  And now we have this new info from Nate Silver over at FiveThirtyEight, whose predictions were mind-blowingly accurate during the 2008 campaign:

So sweaty old Newt has a 64% chance of winning South Carolina tomorrow.  Wow.  If he does, the Grand Old Party will be at its wits end.  It will be so fun to see what they do.  Will they try to strike some sort of deal with Newt so he’ll drop out, you know, for the good of the party and all that?  Newt doesn’t seem like the kind of guy to go along with that and at the same time, I don’t sense the honchos in the party are all that enthusiastic about Mitt anymore either so how much pushing and shoving are they willing to do on his behalf?

So, again, if Newt wins, I can’t wait to see what happens.

My gut tells me New Jersey Governor Chris Christy will enter the race at some point but I can’t envision precisely how that would happen (what are they going to do, send the four guys above to Siberia?)

Anyway, as it stands, Newt looks to be heading for a win.  Buckle up.

Time to Turn the Laugh Track On

Oh please:

Romney: I ‘lived in the real streets’

Multimillionaire Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney on Thursday claimed he was a regular person who “lived in the real streets of America.”

During a CNN-sponsored debate in South Carolina, the former Massachusetts governor said that former House Speaker Newt Gingrich’s “involvement in Washington is a perfect example of why we need to send to Washington someone who has not lived in Washington, but someone who has lived in the real streets of America, working in the private sector, who’s led a business, who started a business, who helped lead the Olympics, who helped lead a state.”

Romney says he “lived in the real streets of America” but then he goes on to enumerate the things that put him in the 1%.

Way to go Mitt.  You.  Don’t.  Get.  It.

About Those “Family Values”

I know it’s early but this would be our Tweet of the Day:

Seems to me one of two things are going on here.  Either values don’t matter anymore or the pro-Gingrich crowd thinks Gingrich’s adultery (which he admitted to for God’s sake) was concocted by the “liberal media.”  You know, that well honed victimhood.
