The NRA owns the place. Apparently we can’t even have a discussion about banning assault rifles because the Founding Fathers supposedly included those when they wrote the Second Amendment, even though they weren’t invented until the 1940s. Fact is, the highest tech weapon at the time the Second Amendment was adopted was a muzzle-loaded musket.

If Obama is “Scared” as you posit in your adjacent post, this is what he is scared of. Guns. Not the bullets but the votes attached to them. Guns are one of those third rail issues. The symbol of everything holy and/or masculine in America. It is strange how gun ownership is such a holy grail to so many, left and right. Strange the NRA has grown to such strength. The time has come to examine the viability of the 2nd Amendment, it’s use and importance in the 21st Century. That a dozen people in Colorado must pay such an awful, disproportionate price for the rights of the NRA and a few others is wrong.
