Romney Commits Giant Faux Pas in Israel

Romney’s attempt to boost his foreign policy credentials just got whacked in the knees again, this time in Israel:
Today is Tisha b’Av, the ninth of Av, a Jewish day of fasting and mourning. It is on this day that the First and Second Temples were destroyed. The Western Wall, in Jerusalem, is a retaining wall of the Second Temple. It is, especially on this day, a locus of prayer and reflection. It is also, on this particular Tisha b’Av, the location of a very important photo opportunity for an American presidential candidate.
How vulgar is this?
Pretty darn vulgar. And as for his foreign policy cred, it ain’t looking all that good either.
Can’t wait to see what happens during his next stop, Poland. I heard he’s going to meet with Lech Walesa, the former president of the labor union, Solidarity,
which was pivotal in bring down Poland’s repressive government. Walesa eventually became president of the country. Watch Mitt say something to him about how awful unions are.
What a disaster.
