The Stupidest Comment on Television Today
I’m watching the evening “news” on the local CBS affiliate in Denver right now. It just aired a promo for “what’s coming up” at 6:00 p.m.: “Conan O’Brien got $45 million to leave NBC. What should you ask for if you get the ax?”
Hey, I think I should ask for oh, maybe $30 million?
God. Give me a break.
Wish There Was Some News On The Teevee
It’s 5:44 p.m. MT and I want to watch some news. Do I watch CBS, NBC or ABC? Do I watch Lou Dobbs? Do I watch Fox talking about ACORN? Do I watch MSNBC talking about David Letterman?
Humm… I think I’ll go to the Food Network and get my news from the Internets.
20 Minutes of Corporate Propaganda Per Hour
It seems to me that the breaks for ads on the teevee are getting longer and longer. I mean really long. Really, really long. I haven’t used a stopwatch — I don’t have a stopwatch — but I swear, “back in a minute” is long gone. A few years ago I heard broadcasters say, “back in two minutes” but have you heard anyone say, “back in three minutes,” or “back in four minutes?” No. Now they just say, “We’ll be back.”
So, let’s say we sit down to watch an hour-long show and there are five ad breaks (I think I’m being generous) that are three minutes long. That means the 60-minute show we hunkered down to watch is really only 45 minutes long. If ads are sliding into the four minute range, do the math. That means we’re watching shows that are 40 minutes long but include 20 minutes of corporate propaganda.
Let’s keep our eyes wide open on this.
CBS Cancels Michael Moore Appearance
More on the “liberal media:” From Michael Moore’s Twitter page:

No Mention of George W. Bush in CBS’s Interview with General Stanley McChrystal
CBS correspondent David Martin interviewed Stanley McChrystal, the commander of U.S. troops in Afghanistan tonight on 60 Minutes. The topic of discussion was the absolute mess that Afghanistan and our war there is in. (You may remember that George W. Bush started the war and “managed” it for almost eight years.)
Again, the topic was the mess the place is in — but Bush’s name was never mentioned.
Still buying that bullshit about the “liberal media?”
CBS News – Sunday Headliner in Denver
My local CBS channel led tonight’s 10:00 p.m evening “news” with a story about a little girl who drowned (but didn’t – she’s fine).
Per “CBS News,” that’s the big stoy in these parts.
Good night.
CBS is “Liberal”?
VetVoice caught this quote (and, understandably, they’re not at all happy about it) from CBS Sports golf analyst David Feherty which appeared in the April issue of DMagazine:
[I]f you gave any U.S. soldier a gun with two bullets in it, and he found himself in an elevator with Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and Osama bin Laden, there’s a good chance that Nancy Pelosi would get shot twice, and Harry Reid and bin Laden would be strangled to death.
This — THIS? — from CBS, the news outlet that Fox claims is the most liberal of them all?
Katie Couric Promulgates Wingnut Talking Point
Katie Couric lead the CBS Evening News tonight with a report about President Obama’s trip to the G-20 Summit. In it she wondered whether Obama would be handicapped by his “limited foreign policy experience.”
Gosh. I wonder where she got that. A Tweet from the RNC?
I mean, come on. Did we hear the same concern about W? No. And he had a far more limited sense of the world than Obama does.
Chip Reid is at it Again
I think I’m getting the hang of Chip Reid. He did it again today.
It’s okay for Dickhead Cheney to attack the administration (as in his appearance yesterday on CNN) but when the administration responds in kind, well, we can’t have that!
Chip Reid Cracks
I’ve always thought of Chip Reed as someone who was biting his lip while trying to be “fair and balanced.” Looks like he cracked today.
Former Colorado Governor Bill Owens Admits he Pressured C.U. to Fire Ward Churchill
I saw video of Owens’ testimony on “CBS4Denver” today at 5:00 p.m. Can’t find a transcript or a copy of of the video yet but I’ll post one as soon as I do, if I do. Interesting, isn’t it, that it’s so hard to find?
