This Whole Sex Scandal Thing is Really Getting to Herman Cain
Naked man walks around terminal of Washington-area airport; taken to hospital for evaluation.
Just kidding!
Bob Beckel — Fox’s Badass “Liberal”
This is Bob Beckel, the guy who Fox tout as their badass “liberal:”
[B]ut can I just make one point about this principle, besides [inaudible]. Um, the idea that somehow kids can’t, ah, the whole idea of dressing up, yeah, it’s good. The whole idea of dressing up at Halloween; what’s wrong with that. I mean, I don’t, I don’t get it. First of all, if you go past any high school today they all look, they look like a bunch of hookers hanging outside, a lot of these girls, so maybe they have costumes [on?] all the time…
(Video here.)
Excuse me Bobby boy. The” girls” you ogle in front of high schools aren’t hookers, or as you imply, whores. You are.
Hey Girls, Being Pretty is All That Matters
Check out this new shirt (for girls ages 7 – 16) that J.C. Penny is peddling:
In other words, hey young girls, being pretty is all that matters.
Poor kids. I would hate to grow up in the environment young girls are growing up in today. Be thin. Be beautiful. Be sexy. Period. And what if you happen to be born with a body that isn’t any of those things?
Ohio Family Values GOPer Busted With a Stripper
Ah yes, another example of Republicans practicing their “family values:”
Most Americans will be familiar with Janet Porter’s “Heartbeat Bill,” an anti-Women’s Reproductive Rights law out of Ohio, which criminalizes abortion and which was backed by Newt Gingrich and Michele Bachmann, and passed the Ohio State House on June 28, 2011. The law prohibits abortion after only six weeks. Many women don’t even know they’re pregnant at this point, as Democrats pointed out.
[...]
One of the heartbeat bill’s staunch advocates is Ohio Rep. Robert Mecklenborg, a Catholic from Cincinnati who represents western Hamilton County. Mecklenborg loved the bill so much he was one of its nearly 50 co-sponsors. In fact, he led the fight to get it passed. He is all about family you see: he is a married father of three.
[...]
He gave an impassioned speech on behalf of the war on women last Tuesday. Two days later, as 10TV.com reports, his fellow legislators found out this moral paragon was facing “one count of operating a vehicle while intoxicated.” Of an arrest made two months before. But that’s not all.
You see, Rep. Mecklenborg was driving through Dearborn County, Indiana in the very early hours of the morning of April 23 in a car with temporary Kentucky plates when an Indiana state trooper pulled him over. The trooper observed that the car had a burned-out headlight, the reason for stopping this champion of Republican morality. In his report the officer said that he suspected Mecklenborg was intoxicated because he smelled alcohol and the representative had “glossy, bloodshot eyes.”
[...]
His passenger was a 26-year-old woman, Tiona Roberts, a local stripper who works nearby in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. And then there is the little matter of Viagra in his system. I’m sure it must improve night-vision, or some such. It couldn’t possibly have anything to do with the young woman sitting with the intoxicated 59-year-old paragon of morality in the wee hours of the morning, far away from his wife and children.
The thing Republicans are the best at is sheer, unmitigated hypocrisy.
Anthony Weiner’s Biggest “Sin” Was Taking Photgraphs
Hendrik Hertzberg over at The New Yorker has a good piece up about “Weinergate:”
The bad things Weiner did do—his sins, let’s call them for convenience, without embracing the churchy implications—were, once revealed, a hundred per cent visible. And a hundred per cent of them were visible. They were a hundred per cent documented. No he said/she said this time, no need for witnesses, no need for testimony. No need for “evidence”—because the evidence wasthe sin, and the sin the evidence.
Weiner’s sins consisted of nothing but his own documentation of them. The documentation was the sin, not the acts documented. Without the documentation, not only could no sin be proved, no sin could be committed. Is flexing one’s pecs in the mirror a sin? Is baring one’s penis when there is no one else in the room? Unlike, say, adultery, these become sins only when they are converted to pixels. I suppose flirtation may be considered a sin, especially when it consists of sharing (as distinct from enacting) an explicit sexual fantasy with a person not one’s spouse. But what if the person is hundreds or thousands of miles away, and what if the sharing isn’t even in real time? It’s a sin to lie, but is it a sin to tweet? Apparently.
[...]Imagine, though, that nothing had been left to the imagination in certain other cases. In one such case, there was a blue dress with a stain on it. But what if there had been a video, or even a snapshot, of the moment the dress received the stain? What if the picture itself had been the whole point? What if every detail of every sex scandal of the last quarter-century, every word and every scene, had been photographed and archived, available for global retrieval at the click of a mouse? How high would Weinergate rate on the shock-o-meter? Not very, is my guess.
Says it All
Watch this amazing video compilation from TalkingPointsMemo showing how all three cable “news” networks cut away from a presser being given by Nancy Pelosi immediately after she announced she was there to talk about jobs, and would not comment on Anthony Weiner:
I just heard MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell say that Weiner had to resign because coverage of other news “just stopped” and Democrats couldn’t get any other messages out (about the deficit, Medicare, etc.).
Well Andrea, given that ya’ll cut away from Pelosi when she wanted to talk about jobs, you tell me who has control over that.
This is such clear proof that if it bleeds it leads and our 24/7 cable “news” organizations don’t deserve the privilege of being called that.
Democrats Hand Andrew Breitbart Another Win
Anthony Weiner to resign.
Republicans Should Shut Up About Anthony Weiner
Bravo to Louise Hartman:
In an interview with the New York Post – thoroughly embarrassed New York Congressman Anthony Weiner again confirmed that he is NOT resigning over the Twitter lewd photo scandal – and a new poll out in his Congressional district shows his constituents support him.
The new Marist poll released yesterday revealed 56% of voters think Weiner should stay in office – while only 33% think he should go. So if it’s up to the constituents – as Republicans argue when one of their guys steps in a sex scandal – then the constituents have decided they want to keep Weiner as their Congressman.
And as long as Senator David Vitter – who was a client of the DC Madame – keeps his job – then Republicans should probably keep their mouths shut about Anthony Weiner.
Exactly right. The hypocrisy is over the top.
(The image is via CBS where you can watch video of Vitter apologizing for being involved in a prostitution ring. But again, don’t forget, he didn’t resign.)
Weiner Fesses Up
So, Anthony Weiner finally came clean (Fox is lovin’ it as you can see from their headline below — they don’t want anyone to miss it):
I just watched the tail end of Weiner’s presser. I don’t care what party you belong to, what color you are or what sex you are, standing alone in front of the world admitting to having sent lewd pictures of yourself out on social media has got to be indescribably humiliating so I give him credit for having the guts to do that instead of releasing a statement or something.
And yes, we all make mistakes but it isn’t the sending of pictures bothers me so much, though doing so was mind-blowingly stupid, it’s the lying. He spoke to media people repeatedly last week and evidently lied each and every time.
Then today, when a photo of his pecs was released showing his chin, his mouth and the tip of his nose,
there he was in plain sight and lies wouldn’t fly anymore so here we are.
Again, yes, I can see freaking out when the first photo of his package was released but what makes people think they are going to get away with lying and why is it so hard to understand that lying only digs a deeper hole?
Really disappointing.
“Pro-Life” Republicans
Republicans are “pro-life?” How about pro-life in-utero. After that, you’re on your own:
The first of five abortion-restricting bills passed by the state Legislature was signed into law yesterday by [Florida's Republican] Gov. Rick Scott. House Bill 97 removes coverage for abortions in health care insurance exchanges created by federal health care reform. The law provides exceptions for cases of rape, incest and a threat to the woman’s life.
And then there’s this:
Last week Gov. Rick Scott signed the state’s budget, which proposed reductions to health services for women and children. He also vetoed millions more in health service projects set aside specifically for women and children. Programs that aim to lower infant mortality and increase women’s health in the state have seen a major setback since Scott took office.
Planned Parenthood’s “Abortionplex” — Yikes!
The Onion:
Planned Parenthood Opens $8 Billion Abortionplex

The state-of-the-art facility, which features an IMAX movie theater as well as multiple fetus incinerators.
Planned Parenthood announced Tuesday the grand opening of its long-planned $8 billion Abortionplex, a sprawling abortion facility that will allow the organization to terminate unborn lives with an efficiency never before thought possible.
During a press conference, Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards told reporters that the new state-of-the-art fetus-killing facility located in the nation’s heartland offers quick, easy, in-and-out abortions to all women, and represents a bold reinvention of the group’s long-standing mission and values.
Hey, it’s The Onion folks. But no. Wingers believe it. Note some of their reactions:
– PAID FOR WITH TAX DOLLARS — MAKE ME SICK!
– Planned Parenthood’s Auschwitz . Who would have thought?
– Something is seriously wrong with our society…..WOW….I am sickened and saddened by our society.

Dumbed down or WHAT?
Is it any wonder Republicans what to cut funding for schools? It works to their advantage and people fall for this stuff.
Ah. Mazing.
Schwarznegger Asks Media to “Respect My Wife and Children”
My God, Arnold Schwarzenegger has got to be one of the most despicable people on the planet:
Maria Shriver appealed for compassion and privacy in breaking her silence onArnold Schwarzenegger’s admission that he fathered a child with one of their household staff members and hid the secret for 10 years, shattering their 25-year marriage.
“This is a painful and heartbreaking time,” Shriver said in a statement. “As a mother, my concern is for the children. I ask for compassion, respect and privacy as my children and I try to rebuild our lives and heal. I will have no further comment.”
Schwarzenegger’s admission to fathering a child with a household staff member resulted in his separation from wife Shriver, 55, according to a report in the Los Angeles Times early this morning.
[...]
Schwarzenegger was harboring the love-child secret when he ran for governor of California in 2003. Unaware of the affair, Shriver, part of the Kennedy political dynasty, gave a pivotal speech defending her husband against allegations that he groped a woman.
The woman with whom Schwarzenegger reportedly fathered the child worked for the family until January of this year, the Los Angeles Times reported.
[...]
Schwarzenegger asked for the media to “respect my wife and children through this extremely difficult time,” according to the statement to issued to the Times. “While I deserve your attention and criticism, my family does not. “
So, Arnold has an affair with someone his wife undoubtedly interacted with on a daily or near-daily basis. The woman becomes pregnant and presumably works in the Schwarzenegger home during her pregnancy and probably gets congratulations from Maria, all while both the woman and Arnold know the child she is carrying is his.
Maria gives a speech defending Arnold from groping charges; performs the duties of First Lady of California for four years; campaigns for her husband’s re-election, performs as First Lady for another four years, all while interacting with the woman employee. Heck, she probably periodically asked how the employee’s kid was doing.
Then in January, when Arnold’s political career is over and the employee retires, he finally — finally! — tells Maria (and their kids) that that woman who has been helping around the house for 20 years had his baby ten years ago. Yeah, Maria, so-and-so’s kid, you know, the one you’ve been asking about and hearing about for ten years, is mine.
What an almost unimaginable gut punch.
Then, then the asshole has the gall and the obvious and total lack of self-awareness to ask the media to “respect my wife and children…” Unbelievable.
He makes my skin crawl.
Get the Men Out of the Picture
Did you hear about the Brooklyn, New York-based Yiddish newspaper that photoshopped Hillary Clinton out of that photo of the honchos at the White House watching video of the invasion of Osama bin Laden’s house?
Here’s the photo as released by the White House:
Here’s the photo the newspaper published:
the Boro Park weekly issued an apology for altering the photo — but not for the policy itself.
“The readership of the Tzeitung believes that women should be appreciated for who they are and what they do, not for what they look like, and the Jewish laws of modesty are an expression of respect for women, not the opposite,” said Publisher Albert Friedman.
Fast forward to today and Feministe did what should have been done all along because after all, they want to respect men “for who they are and what they do” too, “not for what they look like:”
Women Who Get Abortions
Who are the women who obtain abortions in the United States? Why do they decide to end a pregnancy? What are their social and economic circumstances? This video was created by the Guttmacher Institute, a leading research and policy organization on sexual and reproductive health.
Creating Jobs
Remember, back in the fall during the run-up to the election, when Republicans were chanting “jobs, jobs, jobs?”
Glad to see that’s still their #1 priority: Congressional Republicans go after D.C. over abortion funds.
Gasholes.
Pornography is One of Our More Pressing Problems?
Nearly half of the members of the U.S. Senate are urging Attorney General Eric Holder to step up federal prosecutions of adult pornography.
In a letter sent to Holder earlier this week, 42 senators encouraged Holder instruct prosecutors and FBI agents to counter what the lawmakers called “the growing scourge of obscenity in America.” Anti-pornography activists have noted with alarm that, under President Barack Obama, the Justice Department has not filed a single new obscenity case anywhere in the country.
“We write to urge the Department of Justice vigorously to enforce federal obscenity laws against major commercial distributors of hardcore adult pornography,” the senators wrote. “We believe it is imperative that the Department, with cooperation by the FBI, investigate and prosecute all major producers and distributors of adult obscenity. We need your leadership.”
The signatures on the letter from socially-conservative Republicans like Sens. Orrin Hatch of Utah, Chuck Grassley of Iowa, and Jim Demint of South Carolina are unsurprising. However, some fairly liberal Democrats also joined in: Sens. Dianne Feinstein of California, Tom Carper of Delaware and Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota. Also on board from the Democratic side, though less surprisingly: Ben Nelson of Nebraska and Joe Lieberman of Connecticut.
It blows my mind that our Dear Leaders are spending time on this given that the country is crumbling down all around us.
Madison Twitpics
I Googled “Madison Twitpics” tonight, looking for pictures of Madison, as in Madison, Wisconsin on twitter. This Madison:
This is what I got:
Catholic Archdiocese Puts Known Sex Addict on Sex Abuse Advisory Board
After 2,000 years, the Catholic church still hasn’t gotten its act together when it comes to sex:
A priest accused of having a long-term sexual relationship with a teenage girl, writing her decades later to ask for forgiveness and declare that he was a sex addict, is being removed from ministry in a parish, and the diocese’s vicar of clergy has also resigned, officials of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles said Friday.
The priest, the Rev. Martin P. O’Loghlen, was once a leader in his religious order and was appointed to an archdiocesan sexual abuse advisory board, although officials at both the order and the archdiocese knew at the time about his admission of sexual abuse and addiction. He served on the board, which was meant to review accusations of abuse by priests, for at least two years in the late 1990s, according to church and legal documents.
Slapping my forehead in disbelief.
Rep. Christopher Lee (R-NY) Caught Sending Pix to Craigslist
UPDATED below.
Married GOP Congressman Sent Sexy Pictures to Craigslist Babe.
The reason I’m posting this?
Yesterday, we reached out to Rep. (Christopher) Lee (R-NY), whose support for “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” and vote to reject federal abortion funding suggests a certain comfort with publicly scrutinizing others’ sex lives.
Exactly.
UPDATE: Lee has resigned the House.
XXX John Boehner Sex Scandal XXX
So, John Boehner (R-OH) might be having sex with a couple of lobbyists huh?
New Speaker of the House John Boehner is embroiled in a bombshell sex scandal – involving at least two different women, The National Enquirer has learned!
Capitol Hill insiders and political bloggers have been buzzing about an upcoming New York Times probe – detailing an alleged affair that the 61-year-old married father of two had with pretty Washington lobbyist Lisbeth Lyons.
And an Enquirer investigation has uncovered a bedroom encounter that Boehner – second in line of succession to the presidency – allegedly had with Liegh LaMora, a 46-year-old former press secretary to ex-Colorado Congressman Joel Hefley.
The Ohio native, a congressman for 20 years, and his wife Deborah, 62, have been married for 37 years.
I don’t care all that much what John Boehner does in his private life, unless it endangers the country — he is after all, second in line to the presidency — but insofar as Republicans spent $40 million dollars impeaching Bill Clinton over a blow job, they’re undoubtedly going to get to the bottom of his ASAP, heh?
“The Beginning” — Colorado’s Personhood Amendment
This “personhood amendment” is on the ballot in Colorado in November, thanks to the wingers:
CONGRATULATIONS to the 1,400 petition circulators and to the co-sponsors, CRTL’s very own Leslie Hanks and Gualberto Garcia-Jones of Personhood Colorado! The Colorado Secretary of State has certified that Personhood Amendment 62, Definition of Person, will appear on the statewide ballot in November!
The official text of Amendment 62, as on file with the state, is:
Be it Enacted by the People of the State of Colorado:
SECTION 1. Article II of the constitution of the state of Colorado is amended BY THE ADDITION OF A NEW SECTION to read:
Section 32. Person defined. AS USED IN SECTIONS 3, 6, AND 25 OF ARTICLE II OF THE STATE CONSTITUTION, THE TERM “PERSON” SHALL APPLY TO EVERY HUMAN BEING FROM THE BEGINNING OF THE BIOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT OF THAT HUMAN BEING.
So, far as I can tell, that means I’m nine months older than what my birth certificate says.
My parents are dead so I can’t ask them what I was like when I was oh, say a few seconds old — so I’m trying to remember.
It’s not all that easy though because this would be me back then:

Child Porn at the Pentagon
You’ve probably seen screaming headlines about people at the Pentagon purchasing (and who knows, watching?) child porn. What isn’t always made clear (natch), is that the purchases took place during the Bush administration and though they knew what was going on, they didn’t do anything about it.
The “liberal media” tends to bury and/or obscure facts like that, preferring instead to imply this is happening right now, under Obama.
Sex is News, News is Sex
The HuffingtonPost blog is ranked (as of this minute) #146 in the entire world — amongst billions of websites. One of the big reasons why it’s so successful is that it has an uncanny ability to craft sexy headlines out of news:
Cheap.

John Boehner Tells His Flock to Be Wary of Hot Female Lobbyists
John Boner to his colleagues:
Some Republican congressmen have been warned to keep their distance from the female lobbyists who prowl Capitol Hill.
Sources say House Minority Leader John Boehner has told GOP congressmen who partied with lobbyists “to knock it off.” His spokesperson said, “Boehner has always told all our members that they will be held to the highest ethical standards.”
While there’s no evidence of anything more than friendly flirtatious behavior, the lawmakers have been told to keep partying to a minimum in this midterm election year.
Is General Stanley McChrystal into Kinky Sex?
So, General Stanley McChrystal sends Navy Seals into the Afghan night with this admonition: “You better be out there hitting four or five targets tonight.” And then he says, “I’m going to have to scold you in the morning for it, though.”
What? This reads like a kinky Hollywood sex tape.
