Back in the day, white settlers referred to the Indians as “savages.”  They’d have done well to look in the mirror.

Check out this timeline of the slaughter of bison across the United States.  For example, there was a three-year period around 1872 when, “an average of 5,000 bison were killed each day, every day of the year, as ten thousand hunters poured onto the plains.”
